ABOUT. Photography & is part of an series of competitive exhibits seeking a breadth of responses within a single medium. This competitive exhibit seeks to give a snapshot of the variety of contemporary discourses within photography. The CVA seeks a variety of responses including but not limited to digital photography, historic and alternative photographic processes, documentary photography, and photography used in mixed media.
MEDIA. Each artist can submit Up to (3) Entries. Artists must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this competition.
- SALES. If a piece of artwork is sold, a sales commission of 30% of the sale price will be retained by the CVA. Sold work must remain in the gallery the entire length of the exhibit. Payment will be made to the artist after the exhibit closes.
- All work must arrive ready for hanging or installation.
- The gallery uses a track system for 2-D artwork. Artwork should be able to hang from a wire, picture ring, or other compatible hanging methods. Works on paper can be hung with magnets with prior approval. Check with the curator if unsure.
- Projectors, speakers, and media players are available for 4D artwork
- We welcome installation art, check with the curator if unsure if the work is compatible with our space.
- Art must NOT have been shown before at the CVA.
- Work left at the CVA 30 days after the exhibit ends or where no return shipping arrangements are made will become the property of the CVA.
- The CVA reserves the right not to display work that fails to meet expectations.
- Art MUST be original and created within the last two year
- For example, Original art must be the first version of a painting an artist creates, not any subsequent prints, reproductions, or imitations of the original artwork.
- Artists may use reference photos they took themself, or study from multiple references to create a composition that is unique to the new work.
- Artists may use found objects, images, and photographs in their work via Transformative use, transforming the original to create a new "original work" that does not harm the original's market value is fair use.

Juror: Andrew Musil
Andrew Musil earned his BS in Printmaking at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2014 and his MFA in the Photography and Integrated Media Program at Ohio University in 2018. His projects explore the relationships of technologies and their users and the effects of innovations. His practice combines contemporary media with antiquated photographic and printmaking processes. He has exhibited works in museums and galleries in Kentucky (TUSKA Center for Contemporary Art), Massachusetts (136 ½ Gallery), Ohio (The Dairy Barn), Minnesota (Watkin’s Art Gallery), and Wisconsin (Rahr West Art Museum and Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum).
