  • If yes, please acknowledge the following: International students may find on-campus internships if they are majoring or minoring in the Humanities. HOWEVER, off-campus internships require that you file for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) with International Services and can only be done if it is relevant to your declared MAJOR, per CPT guidelines. Academic minors are not eligible for off campus internships.

  • The USF Mellon Humanities Internship student application process is as follows:

    1. Fill out the interest form and submit it.
    2. Once approved for the program you will receive an email with instructions for searching Handshake for internship opportunities specific to this program. 
    3. Your faculty member may have follow up questions or an interview to assess your needs and interests. 
    4. You will then seek and apply for internships via Handshake. Recruiting processes may verify by employer/organization, including interview scheduling and skills assessments.
    5. When you are hired for the internship, you will receive an offer letter from the employer/organization. The hiring manager should ensure you have an offer letter. 
    6. You must fill out a Handshake Experience Form and upload your offer letter in order to be permitted for your internship course. 
    7. Once you are informed that your permit has been issued, you may enroll in the internship course. 
    8. There will be a pre-internship orientation and various class assignments based on the department and the number of credits you are taking. 
    9. Go to your internship and complete your 50 hours. 
    10. You will receive a disbursement from Financial Aid for the internship ($1000 per course/internship) paid after the course begins. You are required to complete the internship hours in order to be eligible for future Mellon Humanities Internship opportunities.
    11. After the internship and your course are complete you will have a post internship workshop with the Center for Career & Professional Development.
