Bring the Flame of Hope to Your Community
Select your preferred event date in May 2026 and help carry the Flame of Hope through your community as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Utah.
Final Leg Information
The Final Leg will take place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Cedar City, hosted by the Southern Utah University Police Department. Officers from across Utah will unite with Special Olympics athletes to carry the Flame of Hope into the 2026 Summer Games Opening Ceremonies.
Important Notes
- The app defaults to the current date — be sure to navigate to May 2026 before selecting your event date.
- Be sure to select a start time and include your route.
- Sundays are unavailable for scheduling.
- The Final Leg is on Thursday, May 28th, in Cedar City. Agencies are encouraged to participate in the Final Leg and Opening Ceremonies to celebrate alongside fellow officers and Special Olympics athletes.
Once you select your date, you will receive:
- A confirmation email
- A URL to the LETR registration link to share with your agency
- You may then begin encouraging officers to register and participate in your local Torch Run.
Officer Registration
Registration is $25 per officer, which includes:
- An official LETR T-shirt
- Hydration and event support for your team
- An invitation to participate in the Final Leg in Cedar City on May 28 and experience the excitement of carrying the Flame of Hope into the 2026 Summer Games
For Points of Contact (POCs)
You are not doing this alone. As the designated POC for your community’s Torch Run, you will receive additional support and resources. Your confirmation email will include:
- LETR Best Practices to streamline your planning
- Insights from experienced LETR coordinators who have successfully hosted community runs
Want to Get Involved Without Hosting a Torch Run?
There are several additional ways for agencies to support Special Olympics Utah, including:
- Cover the Cruiser
- Cop on the Roof
- Planning and/or Participating in a Polar Plunge
These events provide meaningful engagement opportunities while raising awareness and support for athletes across the state.
