The success of the NAFSB depends on the involvement and expertise of our members. One of the most important ways for you to advance the work of the NAFSB is to participate in the work of the association's committees. Going forward, the committees will be the primary way that NAFSB conducts its operations. Although the Executive Committee and Executive Director will be involved in all committees, NAFSB members will constitute the majority of most committees. So, please carefully consider how you can effectively contribute to committee work.

We have established seven committees. Please keep in mind that the committee structure may change over time as the business and needs of the NAFSB evolve. You may volunteer for any committees or any number of committees, but the NAFSB Executive Committee reserves the right to appoint committee members to promote balance, continutity and effectiveness.

Advocacy. The Advocacy Committee will focus on promoting and supporting the goals of the NAFSB, build partnership with other organizations and stakeholders in the forensic science community, and increase public understanding and support for forensic science issues through educational campaigns and outreach activities. The committee will offer guidance and support to new and developing forensic science boards.Finance and Development. This committee will guide financial management of the NAFSB and develop external fundraising resources, including collaborations and proposals from federal sources, foundations, and companies.Communications. The Communications Committee will develop content for the NAFSB newsletter, website, and social media to promote the NAFSB and NAFSB priorities. The Executive Director will take input from the committee to create and deliver content to each channel of NAFSB communications.By-laws and Policies. This committee develops draft by-law changes, policies, and procedures for review and adoption by the NAFSB Executive Committee. Current priorities includes bylaw updates, ethics policies, and a statement of vision for the NAFSB and state boards.Membership. The membership committee reviews membership applications and makes recommendations to the Executive Committee concerning new members. The committee also coordinates recruitment and retention efforts, dues collection, and promotion.Conference Planning. The Conference Planning committee will establish sites for the future conference and subsequent events, develop the agenda, recruit/manage moderators and panelists, develop messaging, collaborate with conference site logistics, and generally oversee conference activities. The Executive Director will support committee work for conference registration, panelist participation, onsite support, social media/website promotion, meetings, and related activities.Training and Education. This committee will develop materials and tools to support members of state boards and other NAFSB priorities established by the Executive Committee. Materials can include documents, webinars, or training materials. The Executive Director will support the creation of the actual materials for delivery through NAFSB channels of communication.I cannot participate in a committee at this time.
