Piano Required for Piano Lessons

Like many activities that require equipment, piano lessons require an instrument at home in order to develop musical abilities and technique. Students are expected to practice daily at home to learn songs and develop musical skills in between lessons. An upright acoustic piano is preferred and electronic keyboards are not recommended for healthy musical development. We help families to find the right instrument for their home every week so don't let the instrument part stop you from enrolling in piano lessons! If you have a 3-6 year old beginner and aren't ready for the commitment of a real piano, consider Exploring Music group classes that have no piano or practice requirement.
Do you need assistance getting a piano for your home?

I already have an acoustic piano or full-size, sturdy digital piano with 88 weighted keys; I don't need assistance finding one.I need help finding a piano.I need help evaluating if my current instrument will work for piano lessons.I need a recommendation for piano movers.
