Keynote Speaker - Adv. Kholeka Gcaleka, Public Protector of South Africa

The Public Protector (Ombudsman) of South Africa, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka is a seasoned legal professional with 20 years of experience. She began her prosecutorial career in 2004 and served as a Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions until 2016. After leaving the National Prosecuting Authority, she worked as a Special Advisor to various South African government ministers, focusing on legal, legislative, and governance matters. She has also served on several committees and boards, including the International Ombudsman Institute and the African Ombudsman Research Centre, and was recently elected as the Regional President of IOI’s African Region. With an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an LLM from the University of Johannesburg.
