  • Terms and Conditions

  • Mat fees must be paid in advance, and you will not be allowed to train if your membership payment is overdue. You can pay for your session ahead of time via our website or by card or cash at the gym, please see one of our coaches to confirm your payment has been recieved.

    All members and visitors are expected to treat coaches and training partners with respect and abide by the rules set out within each session to ensure all members safety on the mats. Any failure to adhere to these expectations may result in your immediate expulsion from a specific class or the gym as a whole at the discretion of The Grappling Society. By signing, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

  • Informed Consent

  • You consent to The Grappling Society taking photographs and/or videos of you during classes, events, or other activities for promotional and marketing purposes, including but not limited to use on our website, social media, and promotional materials. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform a member of the team. 

    You acknowledge that you are aware of the close-contact nature of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which may involve physical contact with other participants. You confirm that you have provided accurate information regarding your health and fitness and understand the potential risks associated with training.

    Additionally, you consent to The Grappling Society collecting, storing, and processing your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy for the purpose of membership management, emergency contact, and communications. You understand that this data will be handled securely and in compliance with data protection laws.

    You confirm that any questions you may have have been answered to your satisfaction by a member of the team.

  • Liability Waiver

  • I am aware of the risks in observing or participating in the activities offered and sponsored by The Grappling Society, and I understand that all sports or fitness activities I engage in are entirely at my own risk. I assume full responsibility and liability for any such risks and for any injuries that may occur, even if those injuries are not foreseeable at the time of signing this agreement. I understand that by voluntarily assuming these risks, I accept sole responsibility for any loss or damage I may sustain, including personal injury, property damage, or death.

    I understand that all participants must hold valid membership with the UKBJJA (United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association). Membership details and registration can be found at www.ukbjja.org/membership. I acknowledge that failure to hold this membership may result in being uninsured while participating in any classes or activities.

  • First Aid & Injury Reporting Protocol

  • You acknowledge that injuries may occur during training, and in the event of an injury, you agree to immediately report it to a coach or staff member.

    The Grappling Society will provide basic first-aid assistance on-site, but you understand that more serious injuries may require medical attention. You also agree to follow any guidance or instructions given by staff regarding your injury and recovery. If necessary, you will seek medical advice before resuming training.

    The Grappling Society reserves the right to suspend or modify your participation in training based on the severity of your injury, to ensure your safety and well-being.
