  • The Operations Hospitality Staff role is primarily responsible for:

    • Staff hospitality backstage and at the Operations Compounds
    • Setting up and breaking down equipment in their assigned areas

    Organizational Profile
    Founded in 1938, Stern Grove Festival is an admission-free summer performing arts festival in San Francisco. Now entering its 88th season, the Festival draws over 100,000 people during its ten-week series of world class performances in the outdoor setting of Sigmund Stern Grove. Past seasons have included performing artists from around the world, including The Flaming Lips, Bob Moses, Chaka Khan, San Francisco Symphony, Kool & the Gang, Los Lobos, Smokey Robinson, Ziggy Marley, Carlos Santana, Allen Stone, and Janelle Monae.

    Reporting Relationships
    The Operations Hospitality Staff position reports to the House Manager and will work alongside the Ops Tent Leader and Assistant House Manager during concert Sundays.

    Position Description
    The Operations Hospitality Staff position manages staff hospitality, backstage cleanliness, and prepping hospitality food and beverage to be delivered to the Operations Compounds. This position is ideal for an individual interested in arts administration, hospitality, and event management. 

    General Duties

    • Procure and set-up hospitality items for staff
    • Prepare micro set-ups for the Operations Compounds
    • Coordinate with the Artist Hospitality manager
    • Prepare and clean up staff break lounge
    • Assist in special events in the House for staff and patrons
    • Maintain kitchen and backstage hospitality needs for staff & crew 
    • Work with Operations and Security staff to secure backstage area.
    • Act as liaison with Festival volunteers assigned to designated areas.
    • General production assistance and duties as assigned.

    General Qualifications

    • Ability to self-start and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Must have a driver's license and consistent, reliable access to vehicles.

    • Possess the capacity to handle stressful situations with diplomacy and tact.
    • Able to work efficiently in an organized and detailed fashion.
    • Ability to adhere to SGFA policies, protocols and procedures.

    • Understanding of your own personal limits and ability to articulate those limits to your supervisor.
    • Have a great sense of humor and maintain a good attitude.

    Physical Requirements

    • Able to lift/carry 50lbs
    • Able to experience periods of extended standing and walking during the course of a work day.
    • Able to grasp, lift, carry, push and pull heavy objects such as tables, fencing, and carts.

    Availability and Commitment

    • Must be available every Sunday: May 18, 2025 - August 17, 2025 (except Memorial Day Weekend)
    • Must be available Saturday August 16th
    • Employees will average 8 hours per week

    Compensation
    Starting at $22 and commensurate with experience
