Description
Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches adults 18 and older:
• Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges.
• Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
• How to interact with a person in crisis.
• How to connect a person with help.
• Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.
Using the ALGEE Method:
-Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
-Listen nonjudgmentally.
-Give reassurance and information.
-Encourage appropriate professional help.
-Encourage self-help and other support strategies

Note: Training time may be slightly shorter or longer, depending on group participation.
Location
Virtual. An internet connection and webcam are required for this training.
Requirements
2 hours of pre-work are required for this course. The pre-work is done on your own time, and will be emailed to you. If pre-work is not completed 5 days before course, participant may be notified and removed from course due to waiting list. All participants that complete pre-work on time are guaranteed a spot. Exact dates will be emailed to participant ahead of time.
