Clark Wilkins Kern was born on June 29, 1995, and was known for his kindness, intelligence, and love for family and friends. He enjoyed reading, playing video games, watching movies—especially Star Wars and superhero films—and dreamed of becoming an investigator and traveling the world.
Clark attended Christian Ministries Academy (CMA) from kindergarten through his 2013 graduation, excelling in academics, sports, drama, and student leadership. At seven, he was diagnosed with a spinal tumor, underwent surgery, and tested negative for neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2). However, in his junior year, his hearing deteriorated, leading to an NF2 diagnosis. A brain surgery during his senior year left him with hearing loss in one ear, facial paralysis, and balance issues, yet he remained resilient and graduated with strong grades, planning to attend college.
Despite additional surgeries and later seizures, Clark’s courage and positivity inspired those around him. On April 3, 2016, he passed away at just 20 years old. His memory lives on through the Clark Kern Memorial Scholarship Fund, supporting CMA graduates in pursuing their dreams.
