  • PARTICIPANT APPLICATION

    2025-26
  • Welcome :)

We hope that this application will be a place of practice and resource for you, so we are asking you to engage it differently than the usual “filling something out.” We want to interrupt the way we can privilege logic and task-completion and instead uplift reflection and intuition. We want this application process to be for you, as much as it is for those who will read it.

This application will take some time, so we recommend making space for it in your day, and potentially taking breaks and coming back to it after an outbreath. We also highly recommend copying and pasting your answers into a separate document to ensure they’re saved—just in case of any tech glitches!

    ~  …  ~  …  ~  …  ~

Begin by taking a moment — just for yourself. Have you done that yet today? (we hope so). Do what your body needs to do in order to feel here — to remember yourself.

Now, we invite you into a practice of presence and awareness: if you have space for it, please read the list below and then take 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes (how long is good for you?) to simply let your senses sense — to attune to where you are, who you are, how you are, right now. Find a place of relative comfort for this. If possible, consider going outside or being by a window. (*If you don’t have space for this now, consider returning to this application when you do).

  • What sensations do you feel?

What colors or temperatures or sounds have your attention?

    What else has your attention?

What is here with you, in this moment, that you are (were) not paying attention to?

Is there anything... even the smallest little thing... that is catching you? Enchanting you?

    Invoking Devotion

As we move into deeper layers of this process, consider how to make this application a devotional practice for yourself.

*NOTE: responses to the following questions have a character limit of 500, which amounts to roughly one, medium length paragraph. We encourage you to find the heart and essence of your response to share here, trusting that there is time to be with any longer response elicited by these questions during the course of the program, and throughout the course of our lives. (For reference, this paragraph you are currently reading is 451 characters long.)

Now let’s return to awareness… take a breath… allow eyes to soften or close and depart from the screen.

Are you aware of any birds in your immediate vicinity?
There’s no need to name them… but are you aware of them? What do they sound like? What colors or shapes do you see? How are they moving? What are you curious about? What more would you like to learn from these beings?

    ON AGREEMENTS

We recognize the intersections of power, privilege, oppression and positionality that each of us carry in different ways. Here’s some of our language and agreements around how we hold this evolving and complex conversation.

    REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • The ATTUNE Immersion seeks to regenerate the wisdom of intuition alongside the development of tangible skills for living in and responding to the climate emergency. Through immersive study centered in ecological tracking, wildtending, somatics, fire ecology, bird language, “auspicious attention”, community care, ritual craft, radical astrology, ritual storytelling, wild fluency (Lauren Hage), and eco-social co-liberation, we will attune our bodies with the earth’s rhythms and languages in remembrance, prayer and action as responsible members of earth’s ecosystems.

This course is an invitation to attune our awareness beyond and beneath the malaise of what late-stage capitalism would have us focus on. It’s an invitation into practices that draw us towards the mystery of the inner and outer earth body (and the consciousness that unites them). It’s an opportunity to gain capacity and applicable knowledge for meeting times of instability – so that we might better equip ourselves to be good friends, relatives, neighbors, and ecological community members as we face the promise of unpredictable futures. Whether these are areas of familiarity or newness to you, we welcome you. This is the ground from which we will be moving.

Because we will be co-creating with the world around us, and the inner worlds of each who joins, we don’t know exactly what will happen, but we expect appearances from players like vulnerable intimacy; expanded awareness*; the erotic; liberating with the land; mysticism; liminality; re-enchantment; play; humor; wyrdness; disorientation, reorientation.

We also know that some of the work will be challenging, that we may be tired at times, that there will be rigor and study moving hand-in-hand with enchantment. We know that we want people to leave feeling more equipped and resourced, on multiple levels, than when they arrived. We know this will require discipline and commitment. Akin to being with the intersecting crises of our times, this work requires entering unknown terrain. As such, we invite you to participate with a willingness to engage the unknown, and to be personally responsible to yourself and your own practice. And, WE are committed to holding a responsible container to enter the unknown together.

*Note that when we name "expanded awareness" we are not referring to the use of mind/body altering substances. The ATTUNE program is a drug and alcohol free space, as named in our FAQ’s. Rather we are referring to the states of consciousness we can achieve when we dedicate our attention to our senses and to the natural world.

  • CERTIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS OFFERED:

As part of the ATTUNE immersion, participants have the opportunity to earn three certifications/qualifications: Firefighter Type 2, Wilderness First Responder, and the Weaving Earth Naturalist Certification. These certifications provide valuable, tangible skills that enhance personal resilience, ecological literacy, and community readiness.

Each certification requires attendance at the in-person sessions as well as self-paced coursework, journaling, and check-ins with facilitators between the in-person sessions. Below are the details for each:

  • Firefighter Type II Certification

    • Requires 30–40 hours of self-paced online coursework from program start to the second session.
    • Breaks down to approximately 2.5 hours per week over 16 weeks.
  • Wilderness First Responder Certification

    • Requires 30–40 hours of self-paced online coursework
    • If spread evenly, this amounts to just over 2 hours per week between session 2 and 3.
  • Weaving Earth Naturalist Certification

    • Requires weekly at home practices/journal entries and monthly check-ins with facilitators.
    • Estimated time commitment is 2–3 hours per week throughout the course of the program.
  • *Please note, even if you have completed one or more of these trainings, we strongly encourage recertifying as they will be held within Weaving Earth’s Relational Education context.

    ON SUPPORT STRUCTURES

  • In our first session, and throughout ATTUNE, we’ll give some orientation and best practices around "spiritual hygiene" — because this work of touching into the level of spirit can stir up a lot for individuals and groups, we want to do all that we can to be prepared to encounter what arises well, and to take care of ourselves and each other throughout.

    ON ACCESSIBILITY

  • We continually strive to make our programs as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, and we want to know if you have any specific needs that would be important for WE staff to know before the program begins. We also want to make sure that applicants know that the locations hosting us are rustic in nature and that we will be camping during the 4 Immersion gatherings. Some of the terrain is steep and we will be traversing dirt roads. Most will be vehicle accessible, so walking everywhere at all times isn't required, but we want to do our best to paint a picture of the terrain/accommodations so you can make an informed decision.

Additionally, much of the course content is physical in nature and can be activating for the nervous system – particularly the Firefighter Type 2 Qualification, the Wilderness First Responder training, and some aspects of our earth intimacy curriculum. While we take accessibility and disability justice seriously, we also want to be transparent that some of the training we are offering is not possible for all bodies. We are committed to finding alternate paths for anyone who is accepted to ATTUNE, but for some, the planned activities may not be an option.
