The rated sections are limited to players enrolled in grades K through 8. There is also an unrated "friends and family" section open to players of all ages. There are also giveaways, game analyses, a presentation by Grandmaster Mac Molner, and blitz chess mayhem.

All players in rated sections must have a current United States Chess Federation membership to play in this tournament.

Please provide the following information.

In this tournament there are three levels based on grade: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Each grade level has both an easier and a more challenging section.

Although this is an individual tournament, three team trophies will also be awarded to the top-performing schools in each grade level: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. For purposes of forming teams, both grade sections (Open and Under ###) will be combined. There is no limit on the number of players who can represent a school, but only the top four scores for that school will be combined to form the team score. Students are not required to be part of a team.

A requested bye is an instruction to the tournament officials NOT to play in a specific round. This is usually because a player will be late or must leave early. At this tournament, the first requested bye before the tournament starts is worth half a point. All other requested byes are worth zero points.

Sometimes we take photos of participants at our events. These photos are used on our website (www.njscf.org) and on our social media page on Facebook. Occasionally they are used for other purposes such as our annual publication, the Atlantic Chess News.

Register by April 13 for $40. $50 after. Registration closes on April 26 at 8pm, or when we reach capacity. There is no on-site registration.
