Artist Bio's are an essential aspect of being able to market and sell your pieces, it lets the potential buyer connect to you and your work and process.
An Artist Bio should contain the following points (if possible):
- Artist photo: this is optional, but a picture says a lot and gives them a face with the work they wish to purchase.
- Your Story (history, upbringing, study, training, accomplishments, etc.)
- What mediums you work in (paint, ceramics, woodworking, etc)
- Info about your work (local products, equipment used, location, your process or techniques, influences, themes, context, collaborations, etc)
Research at museums has shown that visitors lose interest in reading wall labels accompanying art works after 150 words. Please try to keep the Artist Bio to 150 words or less. The Cortez Cultural Center will use a template to print out your bio on a card we will place with your pieces.
