Dear Applicant,

The Torchbearers Foundation would like to award scholarships to deserving high school seniors who have been accepted for enrollment in an accredited college, university, or trade school.

The financial assistance is in the form of a one-time scholarship in the amount up to $1,500.00 awarded by The Torchbearers Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service.

We hope you will see this as a partnership and join us in our efforts to identify students that are deserving of a chance to pursue their educational goals. Please note that testaments of character, financial need, and participation in extracurricular activities will all be considered in conjunction with the applicant’s academic performance. The scholarship will be available until awarded. All completed applications must be submitted by April 11, 2025.

The Torchbearers Foundation (TBF) provides valuable services to students and young adults in the Chicagoland Area. Our aim is to promote and encourage life-long education and continued quest for knowledge.

TBF’s program initiatives form the heart of the organization by responding to the needs of the community. TBF supports high academic achievement, leadership development, financial responsibility, and cultural enrichment.

The Torchbearers Foundation is dedicated to cultivating future leaders, fostering academic excellence, and instilling a lifelong commitment to service. Our mission is to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to excel in higher education, professional careers and community leadership.

Through strategic collaboration and partnerships with organizations, including, but not limited to:

- Rho Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
- Bright Leadership Institute of Chicago
- Leadership Development Institute of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
By leveraging collaboration with these and multiple other organizations, utilizing experiential learning and service-driven initiatives, the Torchbearers Foundation ensures that the next generation is equipped to lead with integrity, innovate with vision, and uplift their communities. Scholarship Fund

The Torchbearers Foundation Scholarship Fund was founded to support and promote our goals and aims of the providing scholarships to prospective college male students who meet specific academic, service, and leadership eligibility requirements.
Eligibility & Requirements
I. Eligibility
This scholarship award is open to any graduating high school senior who:

1.     Attends High School or receives a GED

2. Fully admitted for enrollment in an accredited college, university, or trade school.

3.     Possesses a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale.

4.     The applicant is a male.

II. Official Transcript
Please provide an official transcript from your high school counselor or principal. Make sure it indicates the most current GPA and class ranking.

III. Recommendation Form
Please provide 1 one-page letter of recommendation from non-family members such as a Teacher, Counselor, Principal, Mentor, or Pastor.

IV. Essay (750-1000 words, double-spaced, 12-point font, times new roman)

Topic: Describe your career goals, and how earning a college degree will help you achieve those goals. How will you use your education and skills to help all of mankind?

VI. Deadline
All application packets must be submitted by April 11, 2025. Applicants must submit completed application packets. Incomplete application packets will NOT be reviewed or returned and will eliminate you from the selection process.

VII. Scholarship Recipients

Those applicants selected to receive this scholarship will be notified. Each recipient is expected to attend the annual scholarship event held in the Chicagoland Area. Complimentary tickets to this event will be provided for scholarship recipients. Additional tickets can be purchased for family and friends.
