    Inspection Report for exemption of a permit in terms of Chapter 7 of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act no 10 of 2004), as amended.
  • Alien and Invasive species regulations: Psittacula Krameri (scopoli, 1769), Rose Ringed Parakeets (Category 2)

  • 2.  DECLARATION BY APPLICANT:                                                                                               

    I, the undersigned, declare that:

    1.     I am aware that Psittacula krameri (Scopoli, 1769) commonly known as Rose Ringed or Ring-necked Parakeets are listed as invasive species in terms of the Alien and Invasive Regulations of 2014 of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act No. 10 of 2004).

    2.     I will make sure that my Aviaries stays in the same condition as per this inspection report.

    3.     I will take all necessary steps to prevent the escape and spread of the Rose Ringed Parakeets outside the property as described above and I will take all necessary steps to control parakeets that escapes.

    4.     I further undertake to comply with all obligations in terms of the conditions of permit number 50692211019124234   issued to PASA on the 25/10/2021.

    5.     By making application for this exemption, I give consent to have my personal information submitted to the Department of Environmental Affairs, Directorate: Biosecurity Services as required by the Permit Conditions.

    6.     I undertake to abide by the PASA Code of Practice and the Code of Good Conduct.                                                                                                               

    3.  Inspection                                       

    I, the undersigned inspector, hereby certified that I have physically inspected the applicant’s Aviary where Psittacula krameri (Scopoli,1769), Rose Ringed Parakeets are kept for the following:

  • 1. Double door / safety passaged to the exterior*
  • 2. Maximum wire spacing must be, 25X50mm maximum, 1.5mm minimum thickness of wire*
  • 3. General standard of cages is good to ensure birds cannot escape*
  • 4. Aviaries comply with PASA Code of Practice and Code of Good Conduct:*
  • 5. Applicant has an up-to-date record keeping system in place as per Permit conditions:*
  • 8. Is this a New Application*
  • 8. Is this a Re-Inspection*
  • 9. I've read and understand the permit conditions*
  • 10. I understand that if the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) conducts an inspection, I must have printed copies of the permit conditions, compliance certificate, and membership certificate in my possession*
