About Appalachian Tunes

The Appalachian Tunes (AT) program aims to offer small group music lessons for adults and young adults ages 13 and up in traditional styles of the region for fiddle, clawhammer banjo, guitar, and mandolin. The program is rooted in traditional old time and bluegrass music.

This registration form will ask you to select an instrument. Spots will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.The classes to be offered will be determined once demand has been assessed. Please bring instrument & music stand if you have one to first class.

Am I Beginner or Intermediate?

Beginner & Beginner Plus – No experience with this instrument before or have played a little but never taken formal lessons. OR Have taken at least a month of formal lessons/practice and/or can play a couple of tunes/chords but still need more fundamental instruction.

Intermediate – Able to tune instrument (electronic tuner) and perform some tunes with decent pitch and timing. Ready for more advanced techniques and tunes/songs.
