    What is the Forge Girls Construction Camp?

    The Forge Girls Construction Camp is a week-long immersive experience designed to introduce girls aged 12 to 15 to various aspects of the construction industry through hands-on activities, workshops, and mentorship.

    Who can participate in the camp?

    The camp is open to girls aged 12 to 15 who are interested in exploring careers in construction and related fields.

    What activities are included in the camp curriculum?

    Participants will engage in a wide range of activities, including carpentry, masonry, roofing, electrical work, plumbing, safety training, team building exercises, and a field trip to a construction site.

    Who will be instructing the camp activities?

    The camp activities will be led by experienced instructors with backgrounds in construction, along with industry professionals who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout the program.

    Is any prior experience in construction required to attend the camp?

    No prior experience is necessary. The camp is designed for beginners and provides opportunities for participants to learn new skills regardless of their previous experience level.

    What safety measures are in place during the camp?

    Safety is our top priority. We have strict safety protocols in place, and all activities will be supervised by qualified instructors. Participants will receive safety training and proper safety gear for hands-on activities.

    Will transportation be provided?

    Transportation to and from camp will NOT be provided. It will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to drop off and pick up their child.

    What should participants wear and bring to the camp?

    Two shirts will be provided for each camper. Participants should wear comfortable clothing, including long pants or jeans, that they don't mind getting dirty, along with closed-toe shoes suitable for construction activities. Please remember to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and any necessary medications.

    Can parents/guardians visit the camp during the week?

    Due to safety and security reasons, we ask that parents/guardians refrain from visiting the camp during operating hours. However, there may be opportunities for family events or showcases at the end of the week to share camp experiences.

    How can a student apply for the camp?

    When is the deadlline to submit an application?

    April 15, 2025

    How many students are accepted?

    No more than 20 applicants will be accepted for 2025 FORGE Girls Construction Camp.

    What will the short answer prompts be as part of this year’s application?

    As part of your online application, you must write an essay (Between 200-250 words) answering the two following questions:

    1) Why are you interested in attending the FORGE Girls Construction Camp?

    2) How will attending this program help you achieve your future academic and career goals?

    Who should I pick for my letters of recommendation?

    In the online application, please provide the names and email addresses of two individuals (excluding family members) who understand your career goals. FORGE will contact them to submit a recommendation form on your behalf. These individuals could be teachers, mentors, coaches, volunteer coordinators, supervisors, scout leaders, or similar.

    When and how will I find out if I am accepted?

    We will notify selected students on or before April 25, 2025, and selected students will have until April 25, 2025, to accept their spot in the camp. You will receive an email from mlowe@forgeyourpath.org.

    Is there a waitlist for applicants who are not accepted?

    Applicants who are not accepted are placed on a ranked waitlist. We do not release rankings. When an accepted camper drops their spot or does not respond to accepting their spot by May 9, 2025, we will contact the next person on the waitlist as soon as possible.
