WELCOME TO CANADA STAR SECONDARY SCHOOL HOMESTAY PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in becoming a homestay family for international students at Canada Star Secondary School. Hosting is a significant commitment, but it offers a rewarding opportunity to share your culture and family life with students from around the world.

Homestay families are essential to the success of our program. By hosting, families experience new dynamics, learn about diverse cultures, and often build lasting relationships, including visiting students in their home countries.

What are the responsibilities of a host family?

Many students studying abroad are leaving their families for the first time. Hosts welcome them with open hearts, treating them like family while supporting their academic success. English must be spoken at home, and hosts provide a bedroom, study area, three meals a day, and healthy snacks.

To assist your family in the Homestay Program and help introduce you to prospective students, we require the recent photos of your home (taken within the last six months). These should include photos of the student’s bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, front of the house, other common areas, and a family portrait.

If you have had a criminal background check conducted in the past, please attach the report so we can verify whether the result meets the requirements of our Homestay Program. Additionally, please attach a copy of a voided cheque for the account where your hosting remuneration will be sent.
