Franklin Cultural District Committee | Artsy Box 2025

The Franklin Cultural District is inviting artists to participate in the Artsy Box 2025 Project.  

Franklin is a vibrant supportive town with lots of historical value. We want to  highlight some of its beauty by sharing your interpretation of nature and community. 

Artists of all backgrounds, established or emerging are welcome to submit.  We want to see your best uplifting works of color to fit the locations they will be featured in. 

This year we are focused on updating one previously created box. The selected artist(s) would receive a stipend of $1100 for priming and repainting the selected box with a pre-approved design. 

Artwork submitted will be evaluated by the Franklin Cultural District Committee as well as the Department of  Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy for the Town of Franklin.

Artists must be 18 years or older to participate in the Artsy Box program. 

SUBMISSION CHECKLIST: 

1. The artist must be available to work on and complete their assigned box from  May 13th-May 25th

2. THIS Submission form with contact information and art description.

3. Sketch(es) of public art concepts for the electrical box that includes all sides of  the box in color

ARTISTS WILL BE EMAILED WITH THE CONTACT INFORMATION SHARED IN THIS SUBMISSION FORM OF ACCEPTANCE AND/OR NEXT STEPS.

SUBMISSION OF THIS FORM DOES NOT GURANTEE ACCEPTANCE FOR PROJECT.

The deadline is April 25th, 2025 by 3 pm. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

TIMELINE: 

April 25th - Artists must have submitted a full color sketch of proposed image  

May 2nd  - Artist notifications are sent with expected return contracts by Monday 

May 12th - Artist must sign and return artist contracts 

May 13th to May 18th – Artist Primes utility box

May 19th - May 25th (weather permitting) - Artists MUST complete the boxes and have FCD approval before sealing

Selection of Utility Boxes: 

The review committee will select the best designs and three alternative  designs. All artists will be notified of the review committee’s final decision via  email by May 2nd. 

Once approved - Artists can add clear coat (Vandl Guard), please wait 24-48 hours before applying (Vandl-Top) coat 

BUDGET: The selected Artists will be mailed 50% of awarded funds once required documents have been received and the balance paid at project completion. The stipend is meant to cover the cost of supplies (which a list will be shared upon acceptance) and labor.

Artsy Box Paint Implentmentation guidelines will be shared with selected artist(s) via email with links for materials needed.
