    Welcome to the application for the Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC) for Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia (SPSA).
  • Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia Ltd (SPSA) is pleased to announce the formation of its Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC) and is seeking applications from suitably experienced individuals to join this pivotal body. The SAC will play a key role in providing guidance, insights, and recommendations to support the effective operation of SPSA’s Soft Plastic Product Stewardship Scheme, subject to ACCC approval. It serves as an important forum for key stakeholders to engage with SPSA, providing expertise on key aspects of recycling, circular economy strategies, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and public education.
  • Application Process

    Please prepare the following documents in preparation for this online application:

    1) A cover letter outlining:

    • Your relevant experience and sector representation.
    • How you will contribute to the SAC’s objectives.
    • Any potential conflicts of interest.

    2) A current CV

     

    Members of the SAC will be expected to fulfil the following key responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic advice on the operation of the Soft Plastic Product Stewardship Scheme to ensure its success.
    • Engage in collaborative discussions to enhance soft plastics recycling outcomes.
    • Represent diverse industry perspectives to ensure balanced decision-making.
    • Attend SAC meetings (in-person or online) which will be held at least quarterly.
    • Comply with SPSA’s governance and confidentiality requirements.
  • Applications remain open until the 5th of May.

    We value your expertise and commitment to sustainability, and your input will be vital in guiding our efforts to build a robust, industry led recycling system for Australia. You will need a current resume and cover letter addressing how you can help drive soft plastic stewardship ready to upload as part of this submission.   • Eligibility & Composition

    We welcome applications from individuals representing the following sectors:

    • Recyclers & Reprocessors – experts in plastics recycling and waste recovery.
    • Packaging Sector
    • Government Agencies – Local, State, or Federal representatives involved in    sustainability policy.
    • Environmental NGOs – advocates for circular economy and sustainable waste management.
    • Consumer Representatives – community leaders representing consumer interests.
    • Knowledge Sector – researchers, universities, and product stewardship specialists.
    • Brand Owners – representatives from companies producing or selling products with soft plastic packaging. (excluding those on SPSA’s Board).
    • Retailers – retail industry representatives (excluding those on SPSA’s Board).

    SAC members are unpaid, and each member will serve for up to two years, with a possibility of reappointment. Members will be expected to attend at least 60% of SAC meetings annually.
