Show Statement
Wildest Dreams is an ode to our ancestors—their labor, sacrifices, and audacity to dream of a future beyond their own. It is a celebration of the fact that, despite the challenges of our time—or perhaps because of them—we are our ancestors' wildest dreams. Only in their imaginations could they have envisioned future generations with the access, privilege, choices, knowledge, and resources that we hold today. This show is dedicated to their perseverance, their courage, and their relentless hope for something greater.
Wildest Dreams is the sister show to Have You Eaten, an AANHPI group exhibition exploring themes of belonging, home, and identity—asking what it means to be Asian and American, what it means to be from here yet not fully of here, what it means to be "other" while still finding belonging. Have You Eaten resonated deeply, even with those outside the AANHPI community, because at its core, it spoke to the immigrant experience.
That is where Wildest Dreams comes in. This show expands the conversation, creating space for immigrants, children of immigrants, and grandchildren of immigrants to share their stories. It is an invitation to reflect on the generational dreams, struggles, and triumphs that shape our lives today.
The exhibition will take place June 1–30, 2025, in Bothell, WA.
We welcome submissions from 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-generation artists working in all mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. We look forward to sharing your stories and honoring the resilience of those who came before us.
This is exhibit is made possible by the City of Bothell.
