North End Opportunities Fund, April 2025
All applicants must be under 18 years old at time of application. All applicants must live in the geographic boundaries of North End Halifax (which are defined as north of Cogswell Street, east of Windsor Street and is boundaried by Halifax Harbour on the west and north sides) or Bayers Westwood.
The North End Opportunities Fund (NEOF) is a fund to help young people pursue their interests, talents, and dreams. We provide funding to support kids in the North End of Halifax and Bayers Westwood in accessing athletic, technical, artistic, and leadership programs. This includes any opportunity that enriches a young person's life and enhances their learning opportunities. Applications are considered for programs, lessons, camps, educational institutions, and other opportunities which offer programs not covered by government, Jumpstart, KidSport or school programming. This application is for one individual. If there are several family members requesting the same opportunity, each family member needs their own application. All questions must be answered fully. If there is information that you are unsure of (i.e. full mailing address for the requested activity), please contact the organization that you wish to send your child to and request the missing information.
All applications must include a recommendation from a non-relative such as a youth worker, pastor, community worker, social worker, or educator who is aware of the applicant's financial circumstances.
This is an application form only. Completing this form does not guarantee that the applicant has been funded for a program. Completed applications should be received at least six weeks before the program begins. Families will be notified in writing if the application has been approved. When funding is approved, the North End Opportunities Fund will issue a cheque and mail it directly to the organization offering the program. An email or letter of notification will also be sent to the parents/guardians. Applications are considered between the period of April 2 and June 28.

NEOF does not reimburse parents or applicants; payment will be arranged directly with the organization offering the activity. Applications must be approved prior to the start date of the program. Funding must be used for the activity/program that was on the approved application. It cannot be transferred to another person, organization or activity.
