    We are grateful that you have expressed desire in becoming an active member of EPC. As part of our membership affirmation process we require that you carefully read this application. Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification in any matter that you are uncertain about. In signing this membership application, you are indicating that, having devoted your life to Christ and been baptized, you are now choosing to make Evangel Pentecostal Church the primary place in which you will participate in Christian community, as defined by our three core values.

    1. PURSUING CHRIST-CENTRED COMMUNITY CORPORATELY

    Which is evidenced by our commitment:

    -To yielding to the Holy Spirit's work in cultivating selfless relationships among us.

    -To meeting together regularly for worship and participation in those faith-forming practices prescribed in Scripture.

    -To loving one another as Christ has loved us and to loving our neighbour as ourselves.

    -To pursuing authentic community within the content of small groups.

    -To welcoming and respecting all people.

    2. BEING FORMED SPIRITUALLY

    Which is evidenced by our commitment:

    -To surrendering our lives to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

    -To the ongoing public preaching and teaching of the Scriptures.

    -To the corporate and personal study of the Scriptures, and to a life of prayer as well as other spiritual practices.

    -To following Christ as His apprentice in living out the vision and values of His kingdom.

    -To living lives of integrity, righteousness and faith both personally and publicly.

  • 3. BEING FORMED SPIRITUALLY

    Which is evidenced by our commitment:

    -To seeking the leading and empowerment of the Holy Spirit in living a missional oriented life.

    -To sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His ever-present kingdom.

    -To discerning and living out our individual and corporate calling, vocation and place in this world as God's people.

    -To serving our local and global community.

    -To giving sacrificially of our resources for the common good and for the sake of the Gospel.

    Corresponding Practices and Commitments:

    By applying for membership to EPC, you indicate that you have carefully read and agree to uphold the following covenants.

    -You are at least 18 years of age: EPC By-law, section 3.2.1.i.

    -You will regularly attend EPC's public services: EPC By-law, section 3.2.1.h.

    -To accept the Bible as the sole authority in all matters of belief, faith, and practice: 2 Tim.3:16-17; 1 Thess.2:13.

    -To acknowledge Jesus Christ as our sole source of individual salvation and to be actively seeking to mature in personal faith and obedience in/to Him: Acts 4:12; 1 Corin.3:11; Matt.4:19, 11:28-30; Col.2:6-7; Acts 2:38; Acts 8; 10:47-48.

    -To have been baptized in water through immersion: Matt.28:19.

    -To support EPC's statement of faith and practice: Acts 15:28-29; 1 Tim.6:3-5.

    -To be supportive of EPC's mission, vision, values, and strategies: Acts 15:1-31.

    -To be respectful of pastoral authority, constructive feedback, and EPC's Church Constitution: Hebr.13:7; 1 Thess.5:12-13

    -To serve with EPC's volunteers and employees in a manner which is consistent with the biblical precedent set in Philippians 2:1-4.

    -To honour each other's unique calling and contribution to the ministry and mission of EPC: 1 Cor.12:4-32; 1:26-31

  • -To develop open, truthful communication and resolve conflict as quickly as possible: 2 Cor.7:2-3; Phil4:2-3

    -To extend to other's proper respect and honour that is due them: Rom.14:1-11.

    -To carefully manage our resources of time and God-given abilities for the sake of God's Kingdom work through EPC.

    -To support the vision and mission of EPC from one's financial resources as expressed through the practice of giving of tithes and offerings: Mark 12:41-44;1 Cor.16:2; 2 Cor. 8 & 9; Malachi 3:10-12

    -To conduct oneself as exemplary, law-abiding citizens of our society: 1 Pet.4:15-16.

    -To respect our intrinsic, God-given worth by refraining from the non-medical use of mood- altering drugs, and the excessive use of alcohol and engaging in any practice that demoralizes, devalues, or diminishes our lives and the lives of those around us: 1 Cor.3:16-23; Rom.13:1-11

    -To respect and uphold the biblical teaching that requires that expressions of sexual intimacy and sexual relationship be reserved solely for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman; and to refrain from any expressions and activities which deviate from the Bible's teachings.

    I agree with this membership application, the values it seeks to underscore along with the practices and commitments it proposes, and I am willing to live by its principles, while I am a member at Evangel Pentecostal Church, Oakville.
