PROJECT ID

Competition, archive or both?
The MTNow Award has always worked in close collaboration with the Media Library for Dance and Theatre at the German Centre of the ITI in Berlin.

By submitting your production to the competition, you are also contributing to the preservation of music theatre for future generations. The information you provide, along with a digital copy of your video documentation, will be included in the MTNow Archive, housed within the ITI’s Media Library. This non-commercial institution promotes knowledge-sharing and communication among performing artists across all genres.

Your video will not be published online or made accessible to the public. Viewing the documentation is only possible on-site in Berlin, and solely for academic researchers or interested professionals.

To further support the documentation of global developments in music theatre, you may also choose to submit your work solely for archival purposes, without entering the competition or paying the administration fee.

If you wish to take this route, simply select ARCHIVE ONLY when completing the application form, instead of choosing a payment method.

Video Recording
Please provide complete video documentation of the production for the jury in high quality, available for download via a file-sharing platform. Download access may be provided through platforms such as Vimeo (with download enabled), a private server, or reliable services such as Google Drive. Kindly ensure that the file remains available for download until 1 September 2025.

The video should be encoded using a widely used format such as MP4, MPEG, or MOV. The file must not exceed 2 GB in size.

Participants can apply for a free submission in case there are strong financial or structural reasons that would prevent a work from being submitted. The request has to be filed explicitly in the application and is finally decided upon by the coordinating director of the MTNow network.
Reasons for application to free entry of competition
Please let us know, which financial or structural situation is hindering the payment of the application fee. Reasons could range from exorbitant exchange rates (please state example), comparable low per head income of country (please specify) or other structural reasons.
