MODArts Dance Collective's (MADC) 2026 Move to Change Dance Festival Open Call
The 2026 open submission call is Monday, July 6th - 11:59PM EST on Sunday, August 16th. There is a $10 application fee. There is no participation fee if chosen. All artists will be notified by 11:59PM EST on Sunday, August 23, 2026. If chosen, artists will sign a letter of agreement to confirm his/her/their participation in the dance festival by 11:59PM EST on Sunday, August 30, 2026. All chosen choreographers presenting their piece on Friday, October 9th will have blocking and a run through of their piece on Monday, October 5th between 10am-3pm; tech/dress rehearsal on Wednesday, October 7th between 10am-3pm; and an evening concert on Friday, October 9th 7pm at Speyer Hall @ University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002. All chosen choreographers presenting their piece on Saturday, October 10th will have blocking and a run through of their piece on Tuesday, October 6th between 10am-3pm; tech/dress rehearsal on Thursday, October 8th between 10am-3pm; and an evening concert on Saturday, October 10th 7pm at Speyer Hall @ University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002. All participating choreographers will receive free professional photos and performance footage no later than 3 weeks after the festival. Dance Filmmakers' work will be streamed through Vimeo from October 5 - 11:59pm EST on November 1st. All presenting choreographers and dance filmmakers' voices will be amplified through a minimum of 6 weeks of advertising & marketing. Please note: Applications will not be reviewed by the selection panel if the application fee hasn't been submitted. Application fees are nonrefundable. MADC does not provide honorariums, and/or travel & lodging stipends to presenting artists.

Piece Information
Artists can submit one of the following work samples with their application + $10 application fee: A new work or work in progress that can be performed live during one of the evening concerts of the festival (rehearsal footage) A completed work that can be performed live during the one evening concert of the festival (performance or rehearsal footage) A completed dance film that can be streamed in an online component of the Move to Change Dance Festival A new/work in progress dance film that can be streamed in an online component of the Move to Change Dance Festival If the dance work (new, work in progress, or previously performed) is longer than 8 minutes, please include the cue start and cue end timestamps that would be performed if chosen (For example: Cue Start: 5:15-13:15). Please no promo, piece excerpts, or sizzle videos. Please note that all submitted dance pieces are between 2-8 minutes, and all dance films are a minimum of 2 minutes.
