• Thank you for your interest in being a part of SGA. As an HCU student, you have the oppertunitny to play a vital role in giving your fellow students a voice. SGA is broken down into three parts of which students can be a part of: The Executive Branch (voted upon in Spring), The Senate, and The House of Representatives.

    At the moment we are looking for students to fill open positions within The Senate and The House of Representatives. Please select from the list below all positions you would like be considered for.

  • Representation: I will faithfully represent the students within my assigned college or constituency. I will actively seek to understand the needs, concerns, and ideas of my constituents and advocate for them within the Student Government Association. I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects positively on Houston Christian University and the Student Government Association.
  • Constituent Engagement: I will meet with at least three (3) constituents from my respective college during each designated constituent engagement period each semester. I understand that these meetings may occur individually or in a group setting. I will accurately document each meeting using the approved SGA reporting process and submit all required documentation by the established deadlines. I will actively communicate student feedback, concerns, and recommendations to the Student Government Association.
  • Administrative Collaboration: I will meet with my college Dean or designated administrator at least twice during the academic year within the established meeting periods. I will come prepared to discuss constituent concerns, propose solutions, and collaborate on initiatives that improve the student experience. I will communicate outcomes and updates from these meetings to the Executive Council as requested.
  • Public Accountability: I will prepare and submit all required semester or annual reports that summarize my initiatives, advocacy efforts, meetings, accomplishments, and outcomes. I understand these reports are intended to provide transparency and accountability to the student body. I will ensure my reports are completed honestly, accurately, and submitted by the required deadlines.
  • Participation & Professionalism: I will attend SGA Open Assembly Meetings every other Tuesday at 6:30.I will communicate promptly with the Executive Board regarding absences or concerns that may impact my ability to fulfill my responsibilities. I will maintain professionalism, respect, and integrity in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and fellow SGA members. I will work collaboratively with fellow Representatives, Senators, and Executive Board members to advance the mission of the Student Government Association.
