• Colorectal Cancer Screening and Surveillance in 2025

    May 1, 2025 - 7:00pm-8:00pm
  • Description:

This interactive session will equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to optimize colorectal cancer screening and surveillance practices. Participants will critically analyze the findings of the NordICC randomized clinical trial to evaluate the role of screening colonoscopy in Ontario, enhancing their evidence-based decision-making abilities. The session will also focus on distinguishing appropriate follow-up strategies, including identifying patients who can safely transition to FIT testing after a screening colonoscopy. Through case-based discussions and practical guidance, attendees will develop a structured approach to screening and surveillance that aligns with current guidelines and best practices. Emphasis will be placed on integrating these strategies into primary care and endoscopy settings, fostering effective communication and collaboration among healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes. The education session will be provided by Dr. Michael Sey Lead at the South West Regional Cancer Program. This activity has been certified for up to 1.0 Mainpro+® credits. Mainpro+ID 300999-03
  • Learning Objectives:

    3. Develop a practical approach for primary care providers and endoscopists to guide screening and surveillance colonoscopy practices.

  • Session Objectives:

    •  Develop evidence-based clinical decision-making skills by critically appraising research findings and applying them to population health strategies in colorectal cancer screening.
    • Develop clinical reasoning skills to determine appropriate follow-up strategies based on screening outcomes and risk stratification in colorectal cancer prevention.
    • Enhance the ability to create evidence-informed strategies for colorectal cancer screening and surveillance, while effectively communicating guidelines to healthcare colleagues and patients.
