Experiences and Advice: LMSA Residency Guide 2024-2025

Hi LMSA Familia! LMSA is planning to develop a residency guide for the upcoming ERAS application cycle to provide our members with organized information important to them as they prepare their residency applications. If you have applied to residency, we want to hear your stories about what worked and what advice you have for people in the current application cycle! What would you have liked to know before your cycle?

Do you have any advice for balancing extracurriculars/ research with school/ clinical rotations?

During your path towards and during medical school, did you experience any failure or setback (e.g. failing a course or a board exam, hardships getting into medical school, problems with identity/background, pursuing dream specialty, etc.)? What came into your mind when it happened? How did you cope with it? What recommendations do you have for other LMSA members about coping with setbacks (you can use your specific situation as example)?

We are looking for medical students and residents who are willing to be interviewed for this year’s residency guide. We will be focusing on the struggles of medical school, the match, any major obstacles we may face, and the difficulties overall of this journey.
