  • Please add your name here to support the City of Crisfield’s application for $6 million to through the NOAA Transformational Habitat Restoration and Coastal Resilience Grant to complete a comprehensive feasibility study and initiate the phased implementation of the living breakwater restoration at Great Point on Cedar Island.

    A breakwater is an offshore structure to protect land from the force of waves, and a  while a living breakwater is a type of breakwater that incorporates natural habitat components, like oyster reefs, to enhance habitat for animals such as fish and crabs while still providing wave protection.

    This project will protect Crisfield and Cedar Island from storm surge, and be especially beneficial in protecting against storms coming from the southwest.
