Apply to be a student writing coach

We hire students who demonstrate an attention to detail and a command of the English language as well as the language of their particular communication field. Coaches also must possess strong interpersonal, time-management and teaching skills. We accept applications at any time during the year; we typically hire new coaches in November and April for the following semesters.
Requirements:

1) Applicants for journalism, public relations/advertising and communication studies must be undergrads. Applicants for speech, language, and hearing sciences and for radio-television-film positions may be graduate students.

2) Applicants must have earned an A or A- in lower division writing flag courses in their major. (For example, journalism coaches must have met that standard in Reporting Words.)

3) The Moody Writing Support Program director will contact eigible applicants to set up an editing test and interview. Potential hires must also pass a background check.

4) After completing this form, please have a writing flag professor in your major email a letter of recommendation to our director at moodywriting@austin.utexas.edu.
