OPERATING HOURS
The Naval Point Club Lyttelton venues are available for hire 7 days a week from 0800 – 2400hr unless arranged before event. Due to the licensing requirement for a club facility, we will need to get a council permit to hold alcohol-free events for non-club members. This takes up to 20 working days and will be at a cost to the host. These licenses are usually issued without any issues; however, if the license does get declined for whatever reason, this fee will not be refunded.
THE WARDROOM
Our main function room is the sunny Wardroom, with views out over the beautiful Lyttelton Harbour and Quail Island and our outdoor deck, which is available for hosting barbeques and making the most of Canterbury’s fantastic summer weather. This can comfortably seat 80 people for a sit-down meal and up to 150 people for a cocktail party, drinks, and nibbles. The room has an audio/visual system with a large TV screen, a projector, and a sound system with a microphone and AUX capabilities.
SETUPS
● Drinks and nibbles: For up to 150 guests, the room can be arranged in cocktail style with a mix of lower tables, bar leaners, and areas for standing.
● Dinner: This option can seat up to 80 guests for breakfast, lunch or dinner. www.navalpoint.co.nz
● Theatre Style: This set-up is perfect for prize giving, awards, speeches, presentations or anything else you can think of! Seating for up to 100 will be arranged in rows facing the projector screen or TV, and standing room can be left towards the back with bar leaners for larger groups.
BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS
Deposit: A deposit for the cost of the room hire is required to secure your requested function date. For groups that have asked for the use of the bar facilities or catering the signed booking form along with full credit card details must be supplied 28 days before the function date.
Minimum Spend / Space Hire: Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. does not have a minimum spend policy; however we do reserve the right to refuse or cancel and booking that is not in keeping with the nature of the club.
Reservations: Please provide the final guest numbers and food selections (including dietary requirements) no later than 7 days before your function date.
Food and Beverage: Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. operates under a Club Licence. By law, neither you nor your guests are permitted to bring beverages onto the premises.
Catering: Naval Point Club Lyttelton has arrangements with different catering companies. We will discuss your requirements and arrange the best caterer to suit them.
Cleaning: The Wardroom and Galley are to be left the way they were when you arrived. If Naval Point Club Lyttelton have to clean up when we arrive in the morning, the bond will not be refunded. We do offer to clean the area for you at a negotiated rate to cover the staff costs.
Underage Patrons: Underage patrons are permitted to attend functions; however, they are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol.
Loss and Damage: Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. is not responsible for any loss or damage to any guest's or clients' property before, during or after the event. You agree to indemnify Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. for any breakages, thefts, damages or extraordinary cleaning requirements caused by you, the attendees or subcontractors. You shall pay those costs within 7 days of the event.
Payment: All final accounts are to be settled at the close of the function. No accounts will be run or invoices sent unless by prior arrangement. Any unpaid accounts from the function will be charged to the credit card details provided. All prices include GST and are subject to change without notice.
Cancellations: All cancellations must be made in writing. In the event that a function is cancelled, the following policy applies:
● An event cancelled more than 4 weeks prior: 100% of the deposit is returned.
● An event cancelled 2-4 weeks prior: 50% of the deposit is returned.
● An event cancelled less than 2 weeks prior: the deposit is non-refundable.
Health & Safety: You are responsible for all guests' conduct. You agree to indemnify Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. against any claims that may arise from injury or damages from the use of any subcontractor that you employ. Following the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc.’s Health and Safety policy, clients, visitors and contractors must obey all instructions and signs whilst on site, to ensure that their actions do not create hazards to people and property. All Fire and Emergency exits are to be kept clear at all times. www.navalpoint.co.nz Smoking is not permitted in any indoor space. Signs, placards and advertising are not to be nailed, taped, glued, stapled or velcroid to any surface without written permission. Repairing any damage to walls, doors, ceilings etc. will be an additional cost.
Licence: Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. operates under a Club Licence. Non-member events, or those at which most attendees will be non-members, require Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. to apply for a Special Licence. The cost of the special licence will be charged to the hirer. The Special Licence requires a minimum of 20 working days to obtain. www.navalpoint.co.nz
Host Responsibility: Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. creates a safe environment which complies with the Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and any subsequent applicable legislation. In order to ensure we do not breach our licence, our staff are informed to:
1. Detect early signs of intoxication and encourage persons to consume food and water;
2. Inform the host of the function of intoxicated persons;
3. Cease providing alcohol to intoxicated persons;
4. Remove intoxicated persons from the premises. We expect all our guests to conduct themselves in an orderly and proper manner at all times
If the guests we speak to do not adhere to our requests, we will ask and insist that they leave the premises immediately. If, for any reason, Naval Point Club Lyttelton Inc. is unable to meet its obligations in respect of any bookings, we reserve the right to cancel any such booking without liability and will refund any deposits made.
