  • Pursuit Camp Leader Application

BELMONT | The following application is to assess your readiness for leading at The Pursuit Camp. Please read each section carefully and answer each question honestly, thoughtfully, and thoroughly.
  • Leadership Standard # 1

Carefully read and consider the following principles and guidelines for leading at the Pursuit Camp.
  • 1. Live above reproach. Every leader and overseer serving at the Pursuit Camp must live above reproach which means living and leading in such a way that is without accusation regarding their character and conduct. For Pursuit Camp leadership, this means abiding by the Camp Get-To’s (see next page) and refraining from pranking, inappropriate joking, possessing/viewing illicit content, or bringing any prohibited items.

  • Leadership Standard # 2

  • 2. Be a real-life example of what it looks like to be led by the Spirit. In every session and every hour, demonstrate for students Spirit-fullness. During games exemplify leadership, enthusiasm, gratitude, and humility. During teaching exemplify active listening, attentiveness, and note-taking. During worship, exemplify extravagant praise and abundant worship. During times in the cabin, exemplify good hygiene, cleanliness, and stewardship.

  • Leadership Standard # 3

  • 3. Do only what you’ve been equipped to do. Leaders should only lead and oversee activities that they have been prepared to lead. For example, if you have NOT been prepared by your youth director/pastor to lead a small group, then refrain from doing so.

  • Leadership Standard # 4

  • 4. Come prepared to work with minors. Because our students are primarily minors, all leaders must come with a cleared background check as well as the recommendation of a youth pastor/youth director. Also, no leader at any point is permitted to be behind closed doors with any students.

  • Pursuit Camp Get-to's

The following are camp rules for students and leaders at the Pursuit Camp. Read and consider each one carefully.
  • We get to spend an entire week together! We are so glad you are with us and we want you to be here just as long as you want to be here. If for any reason, a student doesn’t want to be at the Pursuit Camp, we won’t force them to be. We want this week to be lots of fun and have students pursue a stronger relationship with the Lord. So if anyone is struggling, let’s talk. Grab your youth pastor/director to connect.

    • Get to #0 | for zero tolerance of pranks and bullies.
    • Get to #1 | Tech-Free Week– free from tech distractions. If students want to call their parents, please connect with your youth pastor/director and we will make that happen.
    • Get to #2 | You get 2 be where you’re supposed 2 be when you’re supposed 2 be there. Students and leaders have a map and a schedule that will direct them to where they should be and when.
    • Get to #3 | Rule of 3. From the start to the finish of the Pursuit Camp, you get to travel in 3s. That could be you, a friend, and a leader or 3 friends or 2 leaders/teachers and you.
    • Get to #4 | We get to spend the week together without romance. Whatever your stance is on dating this week set it aside and remember why we are here. Dating just doesn’t impact you or your girlfriend or boyfriend, it affects everyone. This week is not about that, it is primarily about you growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
    • Get to #5 | Modesty Code. We get to represent biblical principles and values with our clothing this week.
  • Modesty Code

The following is our camp modesty code for students and leaders. These current dress standards are to help camp be as distraction-free as possible. Read the vision below of the modesty code and review each item carefully.
  • At the Pursuit Camp, we desire to help our students (and leaders) in every aspect of their lives to know Christ, be like Christ, and represent Him well on the earth. Paul often called the early church "to walk worthy of the calling,” or to put it another way, to live according to God's standards.

As we address the issue of modesty through this modesty code, we must remember that the Kingdom of God trumps the culture of the age. Though dress and fashion are ever-changing, we want to use biblical principles to help our students learn how to represent Christ in how they dress and communicate about themselves through fashion. We want to help all of our students experience a powerful week of camp with as few distractions as possible.

Lastly, we realize what we are requiring of students in this modesty code will inherently be a challenge in light of the culture we live in. It may be difficult to find attire according to the kingdom standards of purity and modesty. But, like everything in the kingdom, we approach this by grace through faith as we trust the Lord to help us.

Please read the following guidelines and dress accordingly.

    GIRLS

    Regular Attire

    • When standing up straight and placing arms to the sides, please ensure that your shorts go at least to your middle finger in total length or longer.
      • If we feel your shorts are still too short, even though they meet the “finger tips” requirement, we will ask you to change.
    • No crop tops, off- the-shoulder tops, thin strap tanks, strapless shirts
    • No bra straps are to be seen at any time
    • No midriff tops: no skin may be shown between your top & pants (Because of the styles, we understand the challenge with this. If you lift your hands or bend over and your midsection or back is exposed, you will need to wear a longer top underneath that covers all skin.)
    • No see-through and/or sheer clothing without something underneath
    • No clothing promoting inappropriate secular bands, drugs, alcohol, etc.

    • No underwear or boxers are to be seen at any time

      • If we feel your shorts are still too short, we will ask you to change.
    • Shirts must be worn at all times when you are outside of your cabin.
