At the Pursuit Camp, we desire to help our students (and leaders) in every aspect of their lives to know Christ, be like Christ, and represent Him well on the earth. Paul often called the early church "to walk worthy of the calling,” or to put it another way, to live according to God's standards.
As we address the issue of modesty through this modesty code, we must remember that the Kingdom of God trumps the culture of the age. Though dress and fashion are ever-changing, we want to use biblical principles to help our students learn how to represent Christ in how they dress and communicate about themselves through fashion. We want to help all of our students experience a powerful week of camp with as few distractions as possible.
Lastly, we realize what we are requiring of students in this modesty code will inherently be a challenge in light of the culture we live in. It may be difficult to find attire according to the kingdom standards of purity and modesty. But, like everything in the kingdom, we approach this by grace through faith as we trust the Lord to help us.
Please read the following guidelines and dress accordingly.
GIRLS
Regular Attire
- When standing up straight and placing arms to the sides, please ensure that your shorts go at least to your middle finger in total length or longer.
- If we feel your shorts are still too short, even though they meet the “finger tips” requirement, we will ask you to change.
- No crop tops, off- the-shoulder tops, thin strap tanks, strapless shirts
- No bra straps are to be seen at any time
- No midriff tops: no skin may be shown between your top & pants (Because of the styles, we understand the challenge with this. If you lift your hands or bend over and your midsection or back is exposed, you will need to wear a longer top underneath that covers all skin.)
- No see-through and/or sheer clothing without something underneath
- No clothing promoting inappropriate secular bands, drugs, alcohol, etc.
GUYS
