    Welcome to Jr Cougar Cheer! We're pumped to have you join us for the 2025 season and bring your energy to the squad. Our cheer program is all about teamwork, confidence, effort and having fun! Please complete the form to secure your spot for the team.

  • Practices

    • Practices will start on time. Cougar Time! Please arrive 15 minutes early to stretch. 
    • You must contact Coach Jamie if you will be late or absent in the Band app. 
    • We will assume "no shows" have abandoned their spot on the team.
    • Being excessively late or absent may result in dismissal from the team. 
    • "Late" means one minute past start time. 
    • Additional practices may be added in the fall. We will do our best to give you as much advance notice as possible.

    Attendance & Absenses

    • Vacation schedule is due ASAP. 
    • Excessive absences may result in your athlete being removed from the team. 
    • Summer Schedule is June 3rd through July 31st
    • Attendance is imperative to the squad's success!! 
    • Excused Absences: 
      • Illness with fever or vomiting, contagious illness, school function resulting in a grade, family emergency. 
      • If your child is sick (without fever, non-contagious) or injured, she must attend practice.
    • Unexcused Absences: 
      • Homework is not an excused absence.
        Cheerleaders must be able to handle schoolwork and practice to be on the team. 
      • Traffic is not an excuse for tardiness more than one or two times per season. 
      • Traffic is difficult in this area, so please prepare for it.

    Attire

    • Wear hair pulled up in a neat ponytail, always with a matching bow, CHEERLEADERS WEAR BOWS.
    • Nails should be cheer length. No jewelry.
    • Girls must wear a sports bra and biker shorts/built in bloomers. Wearing ONLY a sports bra is not permitted at practices.
    • Until Practice wear arrives, the following is the practice attire
      • Thursday - Tryout shirt and Black shorts, Bow

    Team Goals and Expectations

    • Our goal is to be the BEST middle competition team in our Region! If your cheerleader fails to maintain a certain standard on this team they could be placed on alternate status or removed from the team.
    • The coaches will add or delete members at their discretion.
    • Only tumbling executed with a high level of technique will be placed in the routine
    • Your child's placement in the routine is at the discretion of the coaches and is based on more than just skills.
    • Ex. Maybe the best jumper, but not in the front row.
    • Please refrain from "coaching from the lobby".

    Competition Schedule

    • Our competition schedule (meeting times etc.) will be posted and emailed the week of the competition. We will not know any information about when the teams compete prior to the week of. As soon as we receive the final competition schedule, we will email it on to you.
    • Additional practices the week of competition are a possibility. If there is an injury and we need additional practice, we will need everyone to be in attendance, even at the last minute if necessary.

    General

    • Please be careful... innocent conversation can be overheard as gossip and cause hurt feelings.
    • Please be supportive of your child's teammates and our program. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your coach.
    • We will communicate via email and the band app, so please be sure that we always have your current email address and check it frequently.
    • Responses to emails or questions on the band app will be addressed within 24 hours.
    • Please let us know of any personal issues that would be helpful in coaching your child. We are happy to discuss your child with you at any time.
    • We will not discuss another child with you.

     

    Behavior

    • Every cheerleader is expected to behave with a positive attitude.
    • There will be absolutely no negative behavior towards another cheerleader, coach, or parent. Anyone participating in this negative behavior will be removed from the team.
    • Please understand that there will be times during the year that your child will have a hard practice. It is our job to support each other. Please do not hesitate to come to us with questions.
    • Parents are also required to behave appropriately. There will be no gossiping, name calling, talking about another child, negative social networking, or bad mouthing the coaches.
    • If your comments on social media can even be interpreted as negative, please refrain from posting it.
    • The parent viewing area is a place to enjoy watching your child and her team, not to question the coaches or spread negativity to other people. If you are participating in this kind of behavior, you will not be allowed in the gym while your child is practicing. If it continues, your child will be removed from the team. Please do not punish your child for your actions.
    • Please understand that the coaches are going to make the best decisions for the TEAM. The best decision for the team may not be what you or your child wants.
    • We are going to do whatever it takes to be successful this season.

    Cheerleading involves a variety of movements, motions, rotations, leaps, tumbling, jumps, partner stunts, and pyramids, therefore, participation in these athletic activities may result in personal injury.


    Our child has our full permission to engage in tumbling activities during football games and/or other events engaged in by the Jr. Cougar Cheerleading squads. I understand that no tumbling mats or other floor or ground coverings may be present during these events, and that such tumbling activities can result in serious injuries. I will not hold liable in any way or seek any damages from any sports team, cheerleading coaches, or any team parents associated with such events for injuries sustained by our child as a result of engaging in tumbling/cheering/stunting activities during such events. This is a complete release from all liability.


    I certify that my child has had a recent physical from her physician and is physically able to participate in the Jr. Cougar Cheer Program.


    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING


    I, as the parent/guardian of the below-mentioned cheerleader candidate, give consent for my child to participate in the Junior Cougar Cheer tryouts and program. I/We have received and reviewed the Junior Cougar Cheer Guidelines in the information packet and understand what is expected of a Junior Cougar Cheer as outlined. I/We agree to abide by all Junior Cougar and USA Cheer guidelines and policies. I/We confirm that my child lives in the Chattahoochee High School district or is eligible to attend CHS based on the Fulton County Attendance Policy.


    Website/Photo Permission: I give permission to photograph and publish photos or videos of my child and family on any Junior Cougar Cheer and/or Football websites or social media accounts as necessary. Junior Cougar Cheer reserves the right to print these photos.
