Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
Since 1972, Soroptimist has disbursed more than $25 million to tens of thousands of women, helping them to achieve their educational goals and build better lives for their families. Soroptimist is a 501(c) (3) organization that relies on charitable donations to support its programs.
Through Dream It, Be It, Soroptimist clubs provide girls who face obstacles with guidance, training, and resources that will prepare them for career success.
This educational award is offered to high school Senior girls who have attended Soroptimist International of El Centro’s, “STEAM WARS” Conference and/or Dream It Be It workshops. The awardees receiving these financial awards may use them for any costs associated with their educational efforts, including but not limited to tuition, books, childcare, and transportation.
Educational Award Amount: Up to $1,000 will be awarded to a female high school graduating Senior who has participated in the Soroptimist International of El Centro’s Dream It, Be It "STEAM WARS" Conference and/or Dream It Be It workshops
Payment: The disbursement of funds will be paid when proof of enrollment or acceptance into the college, university, or vocational/licensing program is provided.
The awardees of this inaugural educational award will be considered for additional funding periodically throughout the year. The additional support will depend on the awardee responding to the Club's correspondence and providing progress reports on their studies. Additional funding is subject to the Club's discretion and financial availability.
Funding reevaluation for additional support will be on a 6-month basis for up to (2) years.
Selection Criteria: This educational award is based on a combination of financial need, academic performance and a written essay.
Finalists will be interviewed after March 15th at a date to be determined. Candidates who attended the "STEAM WARS" conference and/or Dream It Be It workshops may only apply for "The Caroline Treadway Jaime - Dream It Be It" Educational Award and must use the "The Caroline Treadway Jaime- Dream It Be It" Educational Award application.
Application Requirements: Applicant must be a female high school graduating Senior who has been accepted into a two-year OR four-year post-secondary institution OR a Licensing/Certification Program.
Deadline: Applications are due May 5, 2025. Award recipients will be notified by mid to late May 2025. Not all applicants will be selected for awards. Applications can only be submitted to Soroptimist International of El Centro. Your application will be reviewed by a panel of judges, but all information will remain confidential.
