  • Calne in Bloom provides an opportunity to celebrate those residents and groups that keep Calne looking beautiful, clean and tidy by entering our

    Garden and Allotment Competition.

You are welcome to enter your own garden, or you can nominate a garden (permission needed for back garden). There are certificates and prizes to be won with awards ranging from Silver Gilt to ‘Best in Show'.

  • Special Awards - Presented at the discretion of the judges include the Best in Show and the Rosemary Coomes Cup with a focus on Wildlife Friendly, Environmentally Responsible and Sustainable Gardening.

What the judges are looking for?
Entries will be marked based on a range of criteria, including:
✔️ Impact of colour and design – How visually striking and well-planned is your space?
✔️ Variety & use of plants – A good mix of plants used creatively.
    ✔️ Condition, care & sustainability – Well-maintained gardens with eco-friendly practices.
✔️ Originality & effort – Unique ideas and a clear passion for gardening.
✔️ Use & tidiness of space – Effective use of space with a neat, welcoming appearance.

By entering your private garden(s) into the competition, you are giving permission for our judges and support staff to access your garden for judging purposes.

  • Our gardening competition has two exciting entry categories to celebrate all green fingers!

    Individual Entry

🌿 Home Gardeners – For individuals who take pride in their private gardens, whether it’s a blooming backyard, a creative container display, or a charming front garden.
🌱 Allotment Gardeners – For those dedicated growers who cultivate on allotments. Show off your plot, your produce, or your planting prowess.

    Group/Community or Business Entry

We're proud to support green efforts across our wider community! These categories are open to groups, organisations, and businesses making a difference through gardening:

🌿 Community Space or Project – Open to shared gardens, community projects, or any group-led green space that brings people together through gardening.

📚 Education-Based Garden Project – For schools, preschools, and nurseries using gardening as a learning tool. Whether it's a veggie patch, sensory garden, or outdoor classroom, we’d love to see it.

🏪 Business Garden Project – For shops, hospitality venues, offices, or any business premises that have embraced gardening. Think planters, courtyard gardens, or green storefronts.
