MPHI-PHIRE 2025 Student Application Form

The Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI) is a team of teams, process and content experts with a shared mission to advance population health through public health innovation and collaboration, working to promote health and advance well-being for all. ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The 2025 6-week virtual summer MPHI-PHIRE (Public Health Initiative for Resourceful Education) program for high school students that wish to empower and educate youth about the opportunities and challenges in public health and inspire them to pursue careers in this vital field. We believe everyone can positively impact their communities.

REQUIREMENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Be a student enrolled in a high school.
Be a high school incoming sophomore/junior/senior (Graduating 2026, 2027, 2028).
Have a unweighted GPA of 2.75 or above.
Show a record of service / leadership.
Provide two letters of recommendation - must be emailed directly to phire-mentors@mphi.org
Submission of the completed application has been extended to Monday, June 9, 2025 by 5:00 p.m.

BENEFITS
At the end of the successful completion of the program, students will be awarded:

$500 stipend.
Public Health Initiative Resourceful Education High Schoolers Certificate.
Letter of Recommendation.

2025 VIRTUAL SCHEDULE
All sessions will take place on Tuesdays, 3:30 PM - 5 PM EST:

June 17, 24 and July 8, 15, 22, 29. Each session is 1.5 hours. A student should anticipate up to 2-3 hours of dedicated time each week during the program.

It runs for 6 weeks, with a 1.5-hour educational session held once a week, held on these dates and time: Tuesdays, 3:30 PM - 5 PM EST, June 17, 24 and July 8, 15, 22, 29.
