    General Rules & Regulations

  • The following rules apply to all Car and Truck Divisions.  There are some specific rules for the Youth Stock Mini Car Class.


    The Committee reserves the right to alter the schedule, rule on any point not covered, and make changes to the format for the betterment of the event.  If necessary, Derby Officials will deal with any situation not covered in the following rules and regulations. 

    ALL decisions of the Derby Officials are final.   The Demolition Derby is a Family Event.  Please demonstrate good sportsmanship and have fun. 


    Your entry fee must be paid before your vehicle is inspected. If your vehicle does not pass inspection, you will be given one chance to fix it. If you do not or cannot fix it, you will not race, and your entry fee will not be refunded. As long as you follow the posted rules, your vehicle should pass inspection.
    These rules were designed in the interest of fair competition and most importantly for the safety of all competitors, fans, and supporters.


     EVENT REGULATIONS & PROCEDURES

     1. Drivers in the Full Size Car, Mini Car, or Truck Classes must be a minimum   of  16 years of age and possess a valid Driver’s license. Those ages 16-17  must have BOTH parents or legal guardians sign the waiver.  

     2. The Youth Stock Mini Car Class is open to ages 13-17 and must have a  passenger aged 18+ possessing a valid driver’s license in the car with the Youth Driver.  Refer to Youth Stock Mini Car Rules for full details.

     3. All Drivers must complete a valid entry and release waiver.

     4. Gate passes are required for each person (please refer to Exhibitor’s Gate Admission Policy at end of rules).  Gates open at 8:00 a.m. for inspections to start  by 8:30 am.  All demolition vehicles are required to be in assembly pit area by  10:30 am, August 02, 2025. Driver’s meeting is at 11:30 am.  All Drivers must  attend the Driver’s meeting prior to the beginning of the Derby.

     5. The safety of our spectators, officials, Drivers and Pit Crews is our main concern along with fire, flying debris and impact injuries. Please keep this in mind when you are working on your cars.

     6.  a) Maximum of only 1 Driver and 2 Pit Crew will be allowed in the pit area.
         b) Only the Driver will be allowed to speak to the Officials regarding the Derby.                      Absolutely NO Pit Crew or fan will be acknowledged.

         c) All persons accessing the pit must have a pit pass wrist band.Each Driver will           be provided with one Driver wristband and two Pit Crew wristbands. These wristbands must be worn and may not be passed around/shared. Family pit passes will be available for Drivers’ spouse/children. 

         d) DRIVERS: You are responsible for the actions of your Pit Crew and family members.

         e) Any unruly behaviour or verbal abuse of any kind in the arena, pit area, the stands or public view will be cause for your immediate disqualification from  the event. 


     7. NO ALCOHOL AND/OR NARCOTICS IN THE PIT AREA OR GROUNDS.
      a) Drivers or Pit Crew partaking in or under the influence or found consuming alcohol or narcotics onsite will be disqualified immediately.

      b) The Committee reserves the right to implement a breathalyzer test to all or a   random selection of participants. If found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics Drivers will be disqualified.

     8. MANDATORY SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: All Drivers must wear lap & shoulder belts, eye protection, closed toe footwear, and certified automobile crash helmets  that fit properly.
      a) Drivers are also recommended to wear fire retardant coveralls.
      b) Drivers must remain in their vehicle during the Derby with their helmet on and chin strap fastened.  Failure to do so will be cause for dismissal from the Exhibition grounds.
      c) Seatbelts must also remain fastened at all times during the Derby.

      9. No vehicles in competition are allowed to be driven to or on the grounds except in designated pit and racetrack areas. Must be on trailer or tow truck.

     10. All vehicles are subject to inspection at any time an official deems it necessary.

     11. All vehicles must be removed immediately after the event.  Any vehicles left will be towed at the owner’s expense.

     12. There must be a large clearly marked vehicle number on the door and roof so  that event personnel can identify the vehicle.

     13. No intentional hitting opponent’s vehicle in Driver’s door. If this does occur, you may be disqualified at the discretion of the Judge.

     14. After passing inspection, all vehicles will be equipped with a breakable stick & flag.  A broken stick indicates disqualification in the heat.  No vehicle can be hit  after its flag is down, nor can that vehicle resume action.

     15. Cars and trucks may alternate heats. Final schedule will be provided at the Driver’s meeting.

     16. Drivers “playing possum”, “team driving” or using unsafe driving acts will be  disqualified.

     17. NO SANDBAGGING! There will be no warnings, and this will result in immediate disqualification.

     18. No hitting a vehicle at the start of each heat until the vehicle is at least 1 car  length off of the starting line.

     19. Each Driver must make one hit every 60 seconds or be disqualified.

     20. There will be a 30 minute maximum time limit set from the last heat in each  division to have your entry in running condition for the Last Chance or the Championship Heat. If you are not in the lineup at the gate with in the 30 minute  time frame you will be eliminated.

     21. Additions, revisions or deletions in whole or in part may be made at any time  as deemed necessary by the officials. We do not accept responsibility for any actions on your part as a Driver; however, we reserve the right to remove you should your actions be considered a danger to those around you.

     22. LIABILITY:  Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein contained, it is  understood that each entrant by the act of entry or exhibiting or consigning waives all claims against the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association Ltd.,  and/or any of the members, officers or agents thereof for any personnel injury,  animal injury or death, loss or damage which he, his employees, helpers and/or  property may sustain in any way arising out of the operations or activities of the  said Company, by any of his helpers or employees or their executors,  administrators or assigns, and that any helpers or assistant introduced to or  engaged by the entrant through the said Company or through its members, officers or agent shall be at the sole risk and responsibility of such entrant.

     23. Exclusion of Liability and Assumption of Risk and Jurisdiction
    As a condition of participating at the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association, I, Exhibitor/Consignor, assume all risk of liquor liability issues, personal injury, death, livestock injury, illness or death or property loss resulting  from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to the negligence, breach of  contract, or breach of statutory duty of care on the part of the Lloydminster  Agricultural Exhibition Association Ltd., their Directors, Officers, Volunteers,  Employees, Agents, Representatives, or Sponsors.  The Exhibitor/Consignor  agrees  that the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association shall not be liable  for any such liquor liability issue, personal injury, death, livestock injury, illness or  death or property loss and releases the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition  Association and waives all claims with respect thereto.  The Exhibitor/Consignor  agrees that any litigation involving the event shall be brought solely within the  Province of Alberta and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of  the Province of Alberta.  The Exhibitor/Consignor further agrees that these  conditions and any rights, duties, and obligations as between the Lloydminster  Agricultural Exhibition Association and the Exhibitor/Consignor shall be governed  by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta  and no other jurisdiction.

     

    EXHIBITOR’S GATE ADMISSION POLICY

    The following regulations will be strictly adhered to:

    All Registered Derby Drivers will be admitted to the grounds free of charge with proof of registration.  They will be given a Driver’s wristband, and up to 2 additional wristbands for their Pit Crew members.  Each Driver will also receive up to 4 wristbands for their immediate family (spouse & children) to allow them access to the Drivers family bleacher section.

    All other persons will be required to pay Gate Admission of $20 per person aged 13 years and older.


    CAMPING FEES
    Drivers may camp in the ‘dry’ camping area (NO services) at no charge.  
    The regular Campground rates are as follows: $30.00 per day plus GST for each 30-amp site, $20.00 per day plus GST for each 15-amp electrical site, and $15.00 per day plus GST for non-electrical.  All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis, must register with Exhibition representative in the camping area.
