Committee Descriptions:
ECOEA Program Committee-The responsibilities of this committee are to provide a variety of programs and workshops for members in the areas of leadership training, professional issues, and educational concerns. The Program Committee meets at least once a year in the spring to evaluate the previous year’s workshops and programs, and makes recommendations for the following year for topics and events.
ECOEA Constitution and Bylaws Committee-The responsibility of this committee is to keep the Constitution and Bylaws current, interpret these documents subject to review of the Executive Committee, and assist RA delegates with resolutions and new business items. Meetings are scheduled as needed, or as recommended by the ECOEA Executive Committee.
ECOEA Elections/Rep Assembly Planning and Credentials Committee-The responsibility of this committee is to provide services for an orderly RA according to the Constitution , Bylaws and Standing Rules. This committee is responsible for setting up voting and registration materials at the Fall and Spring ECOEA Rep Assemblies.
ECOEA Intra Professional Political Action Committee ( IPPA)-The responsibility of this committee is to coordinate political activities in relation to OEA/NEA elections so that goals of ECOEA may be achieved. Their duties are to establish criteria for potential candidates, screen candidates for OEA/NEA offices, recommend candidates for endorsements to ECOEA RA delegates, and promote ECOEA endorsed candidates. The committee usually meets in March to screen candidates running for positions at the Spring OEA Rep Assembly. ECOEA has a policy of only screening candidates in contested races.
ECOEA Scholarships, Awards, and Grants Committee (SAG)-The responsibilities of this committeee are to provide oversight of all scholarships, awards, and grants given by ECOEA. The SAG Committee meets at least once in the fall and once in the spring to review and make selections for the various scholarships and grants based on the applications of the members or locals.
ECOEA Social Justice Committee -The Social Justice Committee will advocate for the civil and human rights that ensure the dignity of students, parents, staff and the implementation of an equitable education to all not determined by creed, economic or citizenship status, ethnicity, ability, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. The committee will promote OEA and NEA training(s) regarding social justice, provide guidance and or recommendations to the ECOEA program committee regarding social justice education through professional development, and will support and promote local social justice organizations, initiatives and or events. Within ECOEA recognize local social justice advocates or organizations and make nominations to the OEA and NEA for the HCR awards.
