• HIV PEP stands for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis. It’s a short-term course of antiretroviral medicines to reduce the chance of getting HIV after a possible exposure. PEP is urgent and must be started within 72 hours (3 days) of exposure – the sooner the better. If you have been exposed to HIV (or possibly exposed) to HIV within the last 72 hours, please call (520) 609-1219 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. If you are calling outside of business hours, go to the Banner Emergency Department at 1625 N. Campbell Ave, Tucson, AZ 85724 and request HIV Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
