Each group member is in a different place with regard to their journey in understanding systems of oppression (i.e. colonialism, white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, etc.), privilege, power and the trauma caused by these systems. Thus, we ask that each member share responsibility for holding ourselves accountable to this group care agreement that will allow for shared experience that fosters learning, understanding, respecting, and connecting. *******************************************************************************************Group Care Agreement: 1. We will strive to maintain a safe and inclusive environment, recognizing that brave spaces take different forms for different people. 2. To this end, we agree to take care in our interactions with others and in representing our own needs. 3. We agree to assume the good intentions of others while being accountable for the impact of our behavior. 4. We agree to keep information confidential that is shared by other members in meetings and break out groups. 5. When sharing in discussions, we will speak from our own lived experience, using “I” statements or phrases such as “in my experience,” rather than making generalizations about how things are for others.
