Welcome to the The Hyman Abramovich Foundation (HAF) Jewish Bursary application for current Masada College students.
About The HAF Jewish Bursary
The HAF Jewish Bursary which will be managed by Masada College, is a pioneering initiative and the result of a landmark partnership between Masada College, HAF and Sir Moses Montefiore Jewish Home (Montefiore)
This initiative has been introduced to directly address the affordability challenges that have prevented many Jewish families from accessing Jewish education. Starting from Term 1, 2026, the HAF Jewish Bursary will provide financial support to Jewish students in Years K–12 by making a 40% contribution to tuition fees.
Eligibility
Children eligible for the Bursary must meet the Jewish identity criteria set out in the HAF Jewish Bursary terms and conditions. This identity criteria is based on Israel’s Law of Return definition.
Additionally, a child qualifies if they have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent, whether by birth or orthodox or non-orthodox conversion to Judaism.
Documentation required to complete this form
Please provide one of the following:
- Parents or Grandparents Ketubah
- A certificate of conversion from a Beth Din which is recognised by the Sydney Beth Din or another conversion process which would be recognised by the senior Rabbi of the Emanuel Synagogue (Woollahra)
- A letter from a current community Rabbi confirming Jewish identity based on Israel’s Law of Return described above. A template Rabbi letter can be found here.
If I am Jewish, can I choose NOT to accept the HAF Jewish Bursary?
Yes. The HAF Jewish Bursary is generously funded by the Hyman Abramovich Foundation and is intended to address the affordability challenges that have prevented some Jewish families from accessing Jewish education.
Families who choose to decline the bursary contribute to its long-term sustainability and help ensure that Jewish education remains accessible to more students in our community for years to come.
