At Pack Leaders Rescue of CT, Inc., we are a dedicated volunteer-driven organization committed to providing a safe and supportive transition for dogs in need. We understand that difficult circumstances can sometimes lead owners to consider surrendering their beloved companions, and we approach these situations with compassion and respect. To ensure the well-being of all animals in our care and facilitate a smooth process, we have established the following guidelines:

1. Confirmation of Ownership: To proceed with the surrender process, we kindly require verification of full legal ownership of the dog.

2. Veterinary Health and Spay/Neuter Status: The health and safety of the dogs entrusted to us are paramount. Therefore, we require current veterinary records, including confirmation of spaying and neutering. If your dog's vaccinations or sterilization status is not up-to-date, these necessary procedures will need to be completed at your expense prior to surrender. This is the only required cost associated with entrusting your dog to our care.

3. Meet and Greet with Behavioral Assessment: For the safety and well-being of our current resident dogs and our dedicated volunteer team, a mandatory meet and greet, including a behavioral assessment, will be scheduled at our East Hartford facility. We sincerely wish we could help every dog, but unfortunately, we are unable to accept dogs exhibiting aggressive behaviors for the safety of our other animals and volunteers.

4. Owner Surrender Form: We kindly ask that you complete and sign our owner surrender digital form, which helps us gather essential information about your dog.

Once these requirements are met, a representative from Pack Leaders Rescue will be in contact to finalize the intake process. Following intake, your dog will enter our standard adoption program, where we will diligently work to find them a loving and permanent forever home.

For animals not adopted through our organization, we carefully assess each situation to determine if we can provide appropriate care within our rescue. This evaluation includes considering the animal's temperament, current vaccination status, whether they are spayed/neutered, and the availability of suitable foster homes.
