Taking place on Saturday, May 9, the parade honors active duty service members and veterans by partnering them with local Mardi Gras Krewes and organizations. Each Krewe will walk the parade route and proudly host a military unit, which will ride on the Krewe's float, creating a one-of-a-kind moment of appreciation, connection, and celebration. Subject to timing, PND will provide signage identifying your Military Group. The Mardi Gras Krewes' Floats will identify their Krewe, and the impression the Krewes want to give to the Military Units and the Community is the impression that your Military Group will be recognized, and the Krewe is essentially "escorting" the Military Unit to honor, appreciate them, and show support.
This is a family-friendly event designed to reflect the pride, spirit, and patriotism of our Gulf Coast community. Parade participants and floats will be decorated in red, white, and blue with music, military tributes, and festive—but respectful—energy throughout. Please note that no alcohol or throws (such as beads or candy) are allowed in this parade. Instead, the focus will be on honoring those who serve and creating an uplifting experience for both participants and spectators.
The parade will take place after the Navy Days 4K Run/Walk, which kicks off the morning at 8:00 AM. The parade route will end at Fun Fest at Plaza DeLuna, where attendees can enjoy food trucks, kids' activities, military vehicle displays, live entertainment, and more. We encourage all military units to stick around and enjoy the festivities after the parade!
If your unit has a connection to a particular Mardi Gras Krewe and would like to be partnered with them for the parade, please let us know below in your application. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, and early notice helps us ensure the best possible match.
