  • Qualifications for Candidates:

    The following qualifications are requirements for an individual to hold a teaching position at Canton Christian School. Candidates who do not meet the stated qualifications but believe there may be circumstances surrounding their situation may feel free to continue with the application process.

    All teachers at Canton Christian School will:

    Be born-again Christians living in accordance with biblical principles and standards. Manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school to pupils and as an example to parents and fellow faculty members in judgment, respect, and Christian living. Have a clear testimony through a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and being able to articulate that relationship both verbally and in a written form. Hold a personal evangelical persuasion through a commitment to the inspiration and authority of God's Word with a vital, growing faith and in agreement with the school's doctrinal statement.

    Applicants submit a completed application and required materials. The Board of Directors or appointed committee will initially screen all prospective teachers including contacting former employers and references. The Board or committee will invite finalists to participate in an interview process. The committee will then make a final recommendation to the Board (if applicable). In all cases, the Board will make the final decision as to hiring and notify the applicants.

  •  I. APPLICANT'S CERTIFICATION AND AGREEMENT

I hereby certify that the facts set forth in this application are true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that falsification of any statement or a significant omission of fact may prevent me from being hired, or if hired, may subject me to immediate dismissal regardless of the time elapsed before discovery. If I am released under these circumstances, I further understand and agree that I will be paid and receive benefits only through the day of release. I authorize Canton Christian School to thoroughly interview the references which I have listed, or other individuals who know me and have knowledge of my testimony and work record. I authorize the school to thoroughly investigate my past work records and evaluations, education, and other matters related to my suitability for the position. I authorize references and former employers to disclose any and all information of a confidential or privileged nature including employment records, performance reviews, letters, reports, and other information related to my life and employment without giving notice of such disclosure. I authorize Canton Christian School and its agents to conduct a thorough criminal records check, and understand that I may be required to submit fingerprints. I agree to fully cooperate in providing and recording as many sets of my fingerprints as necessary for such investigation. I release Canton Christian School and any organization, company, institution, or person furnishing information to the school and its agents as expressly authorized above, from any and all claims, demands, or liability for damage arising from or in any way related to such investigation or disclosure. I waive the right to personally view any references given to the school.

    I understand and agree that any offer of employment that I may receive from Canton Christian School is conditioned upon the receipt of background information, including criminal justice information. The school may refuse employment or terminate conditional employment if the school deems any background information to be unfavorable or that could reflect adversely on the school or on me as a Christian role model. I certify that I have carefully read and do understand the above statements, and do declare that the above statements are factual and true. My signature below indicates that I meet the moral integrity standards and Christian role model lifestyle requirements of this school. I understand that this application does not constitute an agreement or contract for employment.

  • Canton Christian School Statement of Faith

    1. Testimony of Salvation - I agree that as part of the qualifications for this position, I possess a personal, active and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior (John 3:3; 1 Peter 1:23 I accept without verbal or mental reservations the CCS Statement of Beliefs and am committed to upholding it.

    2. Living Example - I agree to set a daily example of the highest Christian virtue and moral integrity serving as a Christian role model (1 Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school to pupils (Luke 6:40), parents, and fellow employees. I agree that instruction is not only through rational explanation of formal subject material, but even more powerfully through word, deed, example, and shared experience. I agree that followers of Christ should conduct themselves in a way that will not raise questions regarding their Christian testimonies. A Christian lifestyle should reflect the Biblical perspective of integrity and appropriate personal and family relationships, business conduct and moral behavior. A Christian is expected to demonstrate a teachable spirit, an ability to share love for others, and a willingness to live contentedly under authority. I acknowledge that this includes, but is not limited to refraining from the misuse of tobacco, the use of illicit drugs, abuse of alcohol, the use of vulgar and/or profane language, and harmful practices such as gossip and slander. Any activity on my part, including accessing internet sites, that promotes racism, bigotry, gambling, criminal activity, or the like is forbidden and violates the employment requirement of being a Christian role model; such behaviors are grounds for immediate dismissal from my position at CCS (Philippians 4:8-9; Colossians 3:17; Titus 2:7-8; 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 22-24; James 1:26, 3:17-18

  • 3. Gender Identity and Human Sexuality - We believe that God purposefully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image of God. We believe that human sexuality is a wonderful gift from God designed to be expressed in the context of marriage between one man and one woman in a covenantal union before God. We believe that the Bible commands sexual faithfulness for married couples and chastity for singles; we thus believe that premarital and extramarital sexual activity (e.g., living together before marriage, adultery, and homosexual behavior) is immoral. We also believe that the Bible denounces the use of pornography and all forms of sexual abuse, exploitation, and harassment. We recognize that maintaining sexual purity is a high call, and we strive to follow the model of Christ, who did not condemn but called for repentance. We endorse compassion, care, and mercy for those who struggle with sexual sin and/or gender identity. I also agree to accept the Board's interpretation of moral misconduct. Moral misconduct, which violates the bona fide occupational qualification for employees to be Christian role models, includes, but is not limited to, heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, bisexuality, transgender identity or any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, polygamy, sexual harassment, sexual abuse or improprieties toward minors as defined by Scripture and federal or state law, and misuse of social media that includes, but is not limited to, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites, posting and viewing inappropriate pictures, comments, and subject matter, accessing Internet sites that promote racism, bigotry, gambling, criminal activity, or pornography and participating in inappropriate chat rooms and/or blogs. I agree that these acts are forbidden and violate the employment requirement of being a Christian role model and that such behaviors are grounds for immediate dismissal from my position at CCS (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:7-23, 20:10-21; Matthew 5:27-28; Romans 1:21-32, 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20; Ephesians 5:3-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; 1 Timothy 4:12

    4. One Body - I agree to faithfully attend, be a member, and financially support a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Beliefs of Canton Christian School. I will strive to encourage fellow staff members in their Christian faith and to keep the unity of the faith (Ephesians 4:3-6)

    5. Discernment & Confidentiality - I agree to try at all times to understand, appreciate, love and serve the pupils, families and staff of Canton Christian School. I agree to observe appropriate confidentiality in regard to pupil, parent, and school matters.

    6. Prayer - I pledge to support the ministry of CCS in prayer and in all manner of conduct, and will demonstrate competence, honesty and loyalty.

    7. Conflict Resolution - I agree to attempt to resolve differences or conflicts by following the Biblical pattern of Matthew 5:23-24, Matthew 18:15-17, and 1 Corinthians 6:1-8.
