  • The Flying Pig Festival was founded in 2024, but its history dates back much further. Once the Grand Old Lady of Mineral Wells, many people proclaimed The Baker Hotel would make her reappearance "when pigs fly." But if you know anything about Mineral Wells, then you know nothing is too crazy for this little town to tackle. Pigs are certainly flying in Mineral Wells and the "Flying Pig" has become synonymous with the rebirth, revitalization and big dreams coming true across the city. In honor of those same big dreams, Downtown Mineral Wells is excited to introduce the 2nd Annual Flying Pig Festival.

    Pigs are flying in the craziest little town in Texas and we invite you to come join in on the fun!

    Event Details:

    Friday, June 13, 2025

    6 pm - 8 pm

    Poston Square - 107 N. Oak Ave.,
    Historic Downtown Mineral Wells, TX 76067 

     Team Information: 

    Set-up: All entries must be set up by 5:30 pm.
    Tear down no earlier than 8:00pm.
    The Flying Pig Festival Team will coordinate with each team on move-in times upon arrival.

    Event Schedule: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

    Judging: Starts at 6:00 pm 

    Set up on The Flying Pig Festival Grounds, a detailed map will be provided prior to the event. The kick-off concert and steet dance will run alongside the cook-off so guests can enjoy music and cook-off offerings from each team. 

    Each Team (up to 4 members total) is asked to prepare enough samples for 75 people. (Samples should be small; plates and bowls will be provided at the event.)

    Teams are required to bring their own table, chairs, burner & butane, if needed. If using gas type appliances you must have a 10 pound ABC type extinguisher - with current inspection tag on hand at each table/cooking team. If you do not have an extinguisher we will have some available at the event for a $10 fee. Smokers and cooking trailers are also permitted. Electricity will not be available but quiet generators are welcome for the cook-off. 

    Entry Details/Categories:

    All entires are required to be pork based or have pork as a primary ingredient. Entries that do not meet this qualification will be disqualified from judging. You may enter all categories or select the ones you want to enter.

    The categories are as follows: 

    • Pork Entree- $20 entry fee
    • Pork Side- $20 entry fee
    • Pork Dessert- $20 entry fee

    Each team will be provided a pork product or products of their choice to use for the cook-off up to a $50 value, compliments of event sponsor City Meats & Market. Instructions for picking up your pork butt will be sent prior to the event. 

    Awards: 1st - 2nd in each category above, 1st place overall (highest score out of all categories) and a overall showmanship award.

    Additional Details:

    • Vendors must bring their own tables, chairs, canopies, display and any other supplies they will need in their space.
    • No refunds will be made for cancellation, weather or removal for cause. However, if there is a shut-down due state or national state of emergency declarations we will refund booth fees.
  • Vendor Fees:

    Entree Entry Fee: $20

    Side Entry Fee: $20

    Dessert Entry Fee: $20

    *A $3.00 processing fee will automatically be applied to all applications at checkout. 

    All vendor fees must be paid at the time of registration. However, if for any reason your vendor application is not accepted by the Flying Pig Festival Committee you will be refunded the full vendor fee. The $3.00 processing fee will not be included in the reuimbursement.

    I have read and understand and will abide with the Flying Pig Festival terms and conditions, procedures, and rates. By selecting *I AGREE* below, I acknowledge that the festival is subject to various weather conditions and state, federal safety and health regulations. Teams must remain on grounds until 8:00pm. In the case of severe or hazardous weather or any other act of God, there will be no reimbursement of fees. No refunds will be made, exception only if entry is rejected by the Flying Pig Festival Committee.
