 ABC Sports Forum Grant Aid Guidance Notes 2025-26

National Governing Body (NGB) Quality Accreditation/Reaccreditation Grant and Advancement Grant

• Initial Accreditation will be a maximum award of £500
• Reaccreditation/Advancement Grant will be a maximum award of £300

 Volunteer Development Grant

• External facility hire 
• Course fees
• Tutor costs

Grant Aid for Coaches & Umpires/Referees

• Governing Body Award course fees

 Representative Sporting Teams

• Travel expenses (e.g. Bus, Boat, Flights)
• Entry fees
• Accommodation costs 

National Governing Body (NGB) Quality Accreditation/Reaccreditation Grant and Advancement Grant

To recognise Clubs that have achieved the minimum operating standards as set out by their National Governing Body

Initial Accreditation will be a maximum award of £500

Reaccreditation/Advancement Grant will be a maximum award of £300

Volunteer Development Grant

To assist clubs with the development of volunteers through the hosting of/or attending generic courses including First Aid, Safeguarding Children & Young People or specialist coaching to develop coaches (not players). The grant can also be used to host information sessions/workshops which will create awareness and support Health and Wellbeing

A maximum award of £500 per club per annum (up to 50% of eligible costs)

Grant Aid for Coaches & Umpires/Referee

To assist Clubs with the cost of their coaches, umpires/referees undertaking a relevant National Governing Body Coaching/Umpiring/Refereeing Award

A maximum award of £1000 per club per annum (up to 50% of eligible costs)

Representative Sporting Teams

A. To recognise teams who have competed at a Northern Ireland, Ulster, or All-Ireland final or higher. (Only the top two teams will be recognised)

The grant award will depend on the location of the final i.e.

• Within Northern Ireland/Ulster - £1,000 maximum grant award

• Within Ireland - £1,500 maximum grant award.

B. To recognise teams who have qualified and represented Northern Ireland, Ulster or Ireland at a competition e.g. British, European or World level.  

• A £2,000 maximum grant award will be available.

For both elements applicants can apply for travel costs (e.g.Bus/Boat/Flights), Entry Fees and Accommodation.**

 **Accommodation costs @ 50% with a max of £50 per night.

Applicants should apply once per annum but can include multiple competitions.  The max grant awarded under Representative Sporting Teams will be £2000 per annum per Club (up to 50% of eligible costs).

Please confirm below that your organisation:

1. Has a written Safeguarding policy that demonstrates the club’s commitment to safeguarding children or adults at risk and is available to all stakeholders.

2. Consistently applies a thorough and clearly defined method of recruiting staff and volunteers in line with legislative requirements and best practice (including AccessNI checks). 

3. Has procedures in place for the effective management, induction, support, supervision, and relevant skills/safeguarding training of staff and volunteers.

4. Has clearly defined procedures for raising awareness of, responding to, recording and reporting concerns about actual or suspected incidents of abuse or harm.

5. Has a written Code of Behaviour which outlines the behaviour expected of all involved in the organisation.

6. Has processes to share relevant information appropriately with parents, children, adults at risk, staff, volunteers, and other agencies, including who the designated officer is and how to contact them.

7. Adheres to guidelines that ensure the general safety and effective management of activities
