Summer and winter requests should be emailed to summer@binghamton.edu and winter@binghamton.edu respectively, unless they are for summer/winter Exclusively Online (Z) courses. All Exclusively Online requests should be made using this form.
New Section Build
Section number quick reference:
➢ Lecture: 90, 91, 92, etc.➢ Discussion/Seminar/Internship/Practicum: 01, 02, 03, etc.➢ Activity/Labs: 50, 51, 52, etc.➢ Independent Studies: 01-99
➢ Lectures that are part of a link use a A 0, A 1, A 2... format, or A 0, B 0, C 0 in the case of multiple links for one course.
➢ Other types of linked sections add the corresponding letter in front of the section number, so Discussions would begin with A01 and Labs would begin with A50.
The IN restriction will be automatically assigned to Independent Study sections.
Most other restrictions should be added by the department once the section has been created, since the SSARRES page is available to departments even while course building is closed. The SSATEXT page is similarly available to all departments, and course descriptions should be added there after the section has been created.
Meet Pattern and Classroom
Please review the New Standard Meet Patterns and select a meet pattern from the ones listed. Meet patterns that are not represented in the linked file will not be assigned, and your request will not be processed.
Change to Existing Section
Only fields that are being changed need to be answered; if a question is not required and does not apply to your request, it should be left without an answer.

Please fill out the following meet pattern/meet time fields for each meet pattern being changed or being added. Filling out the meet time field will generate a new set of fields for additional meet patterns, if needed.
Instructor changes can be made by departments using the SIAASGN page at any time, even when course building is closed. If you are receiving an error when trying to add or remove an instructor, please send an email to cfchanges@binghamton.edu with the error message. Adding and removing instructors does not automatically update the Instructor Responsibility value for other instructors assigned to the section, so the value must be updated for those instructors to ensure that the total Instructor Responsibility for those remaining equals 100.
Add Cross Listing(s)
The parent department of a cross list is responsible for updates and change requests regarding all sections included in the cross list.
Cross listed courses should share titles, meet patterns/times, classrooms, instructors, descriptions, and restrictions. Two or more different classes being taught in the same space at the same time are considered 'meets with', and only need to share the instructor, meet patterns/times, and classroom.
Apart from approved exceptions, all cross listed courses must follow the rules shown below regarding which undergraduate and graduate levels may be cross listed together. Approval must be obtained from the Graduate Council before undergraduate courses are crosslisted with 500-level courses.
Add Linking
Linked section number quick reference:
Add Linking and Cross Listing
One cross list ID must be assigned to each group of sections, matched by their section type and section number. For example, a linked cross listing between three departments would use one ID to cross list the Lecture sections with section number A1, another ID to cross list the Discussion sections with section number A01, and a third ID to cross list the Discussion sections with section number A02.
The Parent department of a cross list is responsible for making changes and submitting change requests for all sections in the cross list.
A follow-up form will be sent to the requesting email to be filled out for the cross listed & linked sections—this must be submitted in order to provide the additional information. The information from the current form will not need to be re-entered.
Add Co-Requisites and Course Fees
Change requests for co-requisites or course fees can be made using the fields below. All other changes should be made using the course change form.
A corequisite is a course a student is required to register for simultaneously with another course. Co-requisites are set up by connecting one CRN with another CRN. A pre-requisite is a course that must be completed before another course can be taken. For inquiries regarding pre-requisites, contact Student Records at registrar@binghamton.edu.

One or more of the requested changes requires, for sections where enrollment exists, that students be notified, and in some cases dropped or dropped and then re-registered, as part of the process to update the section.
To finalize your request, select 'Submit' below. You will receive a confirmation email containing a .pdf of your request.
