  • Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin Counties Gaps Analysis Survey 2025

    The goal of this survey is to understand what homelessness services providers, people with lived experience of homelessness, and other related social services providers see as the highest priorities for the Continuum of Care and other housing and service providers within Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties when new funding opportunities arise.

  • Home Shares - Individuals and families open their homes to someone experiencing homelessness and recieve compensation from a provider.

    Homelessness Prevention - programs aim to stop individuals and families from entering homelessness by providing resources and services to help them maintain stable housing. These programs often focus on short-term and medium-term financial assistance, case management, and other support services to address the root causes of housing instability.

    Housing Search & Navigation - Providers support individuals through the process of locating and applying for housing opportunities, through both subsidized and market rate opportunities.

    Interim Housing (Emergency Shelter) - A project that offers temporary shelter (lodging) for people experiencing homelessness, whether that be for the general or specific populations of people experiencing homelessness.

    Low Threshold - Housing resources which utilize a Housing First approach to quickly and successfully connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness to housing without preconditions and barriers to entry, such as sobriety, treatment, or service participation requirements.

    Outreach - Essential services related to reaching out to unsheltered homeless individuals and families, connecting them with emergency shelter, housing, or critical services, and providing them with urgent, non-facility-based care.  

    Permanent Housing with Supportive Services - Permanent housing with indefinite leasing or rental assistance paired with supportive services to assist homeless persons with a disability or families with an adult or child member with a disability.

    Project Based Rental Assistance - This type of rental assistance allows tenants to live in an affordable unit and pay rent based upon their income. Project-based assistance is tied to particular units, and does not travel with individual tenants.

    Rapid Rehousing - A permanent housing project that provides housing relocation and stabilization services and short- and/or medium-term rental assistance as necessary to help a homeless individual or family move as quickly as possible into permanent housing and achieve stability in that housing.

    Safe Havens - A form of supportive housing that serves hard to reach people experiencing homelessness with severe mental illness who are unsheltered and have been unable or unwilling to participate in supportive services.

    Single Room Occupancy (SRO)/Rooming House - A form of housing that is typically aimed at residents with low or minimal incomes who rent private rooms typically with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.

    Sober Living - Programs that provide safe housing and supportive, structured living conditions for people exiting drug rehabilitation programs.

    Tenant Based Rental Assistance - Rental assistance which pays a portion of a tenant's rent and security deposits based upon their income and is not tied to a specific property. Tenants can choose the housing they wish to rent as long as program requirements are met.

    Transitional Housing - provides temporary housing for certain segments of the homeless population, including those making insufficient wages or homeless individuals with mental or physical disabilities who have trouble affording long-term housing, and is set up to transition their residents into permanent, affordable housing within a reasonable amount of time.
