
Woodside Hospitality Group Scholarship Fund
in Honor of Anthony Narigi
The Woodside Hospitality Group Scholarship Fund (WHGSF) was established in loving memory of Anthony Nicholas Narigi, the son of John Narigi, a respected and long-time employee of Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. This scholarship supports students who plan to pursue a career in the hospitality industry and who are enrolled or plan to enroll in hospitality trade schools, junior colleges, four-year public or private institutions and graduate programs.
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5000.00 (Highest amount awarded will be $5000.00, amounts may be lower)
Number of Awards: Up to five per year
Open for submissions: April 16, 2025; Deadline for submissions - May 15, 2025
Award announcement: no later than by May 31, 2025
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must reside in Monterey County, San Mateo County, Alameda County, San Francisco County, Marin County, Sonoma County, Napa County, Contra Costa County and Santa Clara County
- Applicants must be currently employed in the hospitality profession or applying or enrolled in an educational program pursuing a degree or certificate designed for the hospitality industry, which includes:
- Hotel/Motel
- Spa
- Restaurant
- Winery
- Finance and/or Accounting
- Tourism
- Applicants must have worked a minimum of 250 hours if currently employed in the hospitality industry, or 100 hours if a current student
- Applicants must hold a high school diploma
- Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Full-time or part-time enrollment at a two or four-year college/university
At time of disbursement, awarded recipients will be expected to provide SVCF (Silicon Valley Community Foundation);
- Verification of acceptance at their university
- Verification of Enrollment
